Key Business Objectives:
The I & E Service Technician reports to theSupervisor – I & C is responsible for supporting USA Compression (USAC) field operations as pertaining to operation, maintenance, and installation of USA Compression Electrical Equipment. This position oversees and supports USA Compression needs on all industrial electrical applications on motors, electrical switch gear, instrumentation, and in aiding the Customer on correct connection processes that interact with the USA Compression fleet and sold equipment.
All USA Compression employees are responsible for maintaining a safe and professional work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Supervisor – I & C, review project scope, schedule, and budget for incoming and ongoing USAC projects.
Install, diagnose, and maintain pneumatic and intelligent instruments, electrical distribution systems, motor control gear, and associated equipment software.
Help organize materials needed for special projects pertaining to 3-phase Electrical projects.

Read and interpret manuals, policy, engineering standards, regulations, drawings, and schematics, including electrical, pneumatic, and P&ID’s
Read and interpret control system narratives, sequence of operations, and cause & effect diagrams.
Install, diagnose, and maintain PLC's or DCS systems & process or safety controls.
Ability to install, troubleshoot, and program control systems on company owned and customer owned equipment.
Ability to install and troubleshoot low voltage and medium voltage electrical systems with a focus on motor drive and motor control systems (electric motors, motor control centers, power control skids, soft-starts, variable frequency drives, etc.)
Ability to install and troubleshoot electrical systems with a focus on all phase power distribution systems.
Actively and timely respond to inquiries from internal and external customers.
Actively participate in partnership safety programs and initiatives.
Provide mentoring and oversight to less qualified personnel.
Perform specialized technical skills (i.e. develops complex design projects, cost estimates, evaluates electrical systems, build and maintain ESD systems, maintain gas engine or skid unit control systems and supporting station services)
Provide support or lead miscellaneous projects to achieve company goals as required.
Comply with partnership safety policies and procedures.
Perform energy isolation lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO)
Provide accurate written and electronic reporting
Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor – I & C.

Skills / Capabilities and Education:
High School Degree or GED required.
5+ years of Industrial Oil and Gas instrumentation & control systems and electrical experience in the natural gas industry is required.
Technical school certification or associate’s degree in instrumentation and electrical is required.
State Electrical License is preferred.
Certified in Arc Flash Protection or willing to become certified.
Demonstrated understanding of the National Electric Code and OSHA 1910 as it relates to electrical systems.
Experience using software to troubleshoot, design, or configure control solutions specific to In Touch Wonderware or Factory Talk, Allen Bradley RSLogix, Horner Cscape, IDEC, Fisher Hart, Red Lion Crimson, and Exor JSON.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, providing proactive communication at the field level to both peers and customers.
With minimum supervision, ability to schedule and complete work in an efficient and effective manner.
Ability to adapt to changing work conditions, workload, and scheduling.
Ability to maintain motor controls, relay logic, RTU's, I & E associated end-devices. Read and interpret schematics, P&IDs, control system narratives, sequence of operations, and cause & effect diagrams.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, as well as control system programming and operational software for various manufacturers utilized in the natural gas compression space.
Ability to understand written and verbal communication from the company and supervisor including training, procedures, instructions, etc.
Valid driver’s license with a Motor Vehicle Record history acceptable to USA Compression.
Applicant must have the ability to legally work in the U.S.
Working Conditions:
Driving a USA Compression service vehicle to customer locations to perform installation and troubleshooting activities.
Periodic lifting requirements of more than 50 lbs.
Ability to stand and walk on uneven and varied terrain, climb ladders and stairs; and stoop, squat, kneel, crouch and crawl depending on the task requirements.
Exposure to extremes in temperature and weather conditions depending upon assigned location.
Some exposure to high noise levels more than 85dBA require ear protection, as well as exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals and materials.
Working conditions in natural gas compression vary from one job site to another. Some job sites are indoors in compressor stations while other sites are outside, exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
There is a strong emphasis on safety while working with and around heavy equipment and machinery.
