Job title: CLM Process Advisory Lead
- The objective is to provide Corporate and Institutional Banking clients with a globally consistent, and best in class KYC/CDD process, in over 50 countries. Depending on jurisdiction this can include entire end-to-end journey from onboarding request to HSBC account activation. KYC/CDD profiles are being prepared in accordance with Group and Regulatory Policy, both in Global and Local policies perspective, by obtaining information and documents as required from the client/business, undertaking all the necessary due diligence checks, ensuring appropriate escalations are followed and customers are correctly risk rated.
- This role supports CIB Banking Client Services where the team complete reviews for Corporate and Institutional Banking clients. Thorough knowledge of corporate structures, its complexities and the risks emanating from such structures is necessary to be successful in the role.
- The main aspects of the role of Process Advisory Lead (“PAL”; role formerly known as “KYC Subject Matter Expert”) are
- a) Ensuring due diligence reviews are undertaken to the required quality and detail on a timely basis via oversight over process design and implementation
- b) Communicating effectively and having ability to lead discussions regarding complex queries with Quality function, Compliance, RMs/GRBs, BFCR or Wholesale Client Services stakeholders
- c) Ensuring timely query resolution with a precise conclusion given with regards to risk or additional due diligence
- d) Providing support, training and coaching to the KYC Ops Teams on interpretation of the applicable policies
- e) Providing advice to KYC Ops management about upcoming process changes, policies implementation or any other ad hoc queries
- f) Recommending improvements to KYC/CDD process based on PALs/SME intimate knowledge and experience
- g) Supporting process migration activities to/from GSC location
- h) Document the latest process and procedures by updating the Desktop Instruction Manuals

- Supporting CIB Banking Client Services Team in updating Existing to Bank (ETB) and New to Bank (NTB) CDD profiles in accordance with the Group Policy
- Supporting Operations Analysts and Quality Function in producing timely, high quality CDD profiles and address quality issues
- To have good understanding of the Wholesale Global Line of Business procedures, local regulatory requirements and KYC Ops DIMs,
- Understand and comply with internal control standards with no breaches of regulatory requirements complete,
- Supporting Production teams to implement changes to the Wholesale policies effectively.
- Design and Train necessary training for target audience
- Carry out impact assessment and provide necessary advice based on the changes imminent to be operationalized such that production teams are not surprised when the changes are implemented

Customers / Stakeholders
- Work with the CIB Banking Client Services Analysts and Managers to ensure timely completion of profiles and prioritize workload to meet objectives of the KYC Operations Management,
- To provide technical support to the teams so that CIB Banking Client Services work is performed in an efficient, accurate and professional manner
- Partner with Client Servicing and Business Financial Crime Risk (BFCR) teams to complete KYC during onboarding and ongoing reviews

Leadership & Teamwork

- Lead to resolve arbitrations between Production, QC, BFCR and Compliance teams with the aim to meet global and local regulatory requirements

- Ensuring KYC/CDD due diligence reviews are undertaken to the required quality and detail on a timely basis,
- Coping with ever changing policies, procedures and systems and disseminating the same to the boarder teams
- Operationalizing new concepts while complying with country specific regulatory requirements
- Working effectively to ensure mutually satisfactory resolution of key issues and the respective responsibilities are understood and discharged,
- Communicating effectively and leading discussions regarding complex queries with Quality function, Compliance, RMs/GRBs, BFCR or Wholesale Client Services contacts
- Keeping themselves updated on the latest procedural / policy changes and working with the Policy team seeking clarifications on the relevant Policy
- Working in a pressurized, time-sensitive environment
Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)
- The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
- This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
- Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.
Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)
- The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
- The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with relevant stakeholders The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

- Excellent communication skills – Written & Verbal (English)
- Excellent understanding of corporate structures, its complexities and the risk associated is mandatory. Candidates who do not demonstrate this knowledge will not be progressed (E)
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in providing advice or performing KYC reviews with different types of corporate structures in financial institution or equivalent is essential. Candidates who do not demonstrate this knowledge will not be progressed (E).
- Excellent knowledge of a wide variety client types including Financial Institutions, Trusts, Foundations, Government and State Owned bodies along with the wide range, and complex variety, of fund/corporate structures(E)
- Positive ‘can do’ attitude (E)
- Pro-active and business orientated with proven ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands and ability to assess stakeholder needs to improve customer experience and showing resilience under pressure and providing best in class solutions
- Ability to build relationships by communicating and working effectively with consultants, technical experts, other PALs across the department, compliance and business
- Ability to work well under pressure with high degree of accuracy.
- Capability to quickly learn new jurisdiction policies and guidance, and confidence in communication of these.
- Analytical skills in respect of a wide variety document types.
- Training – presentation, coaching and facilitation skills.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of technology related applications used during KYC/CDD process. Ability to transfer this knowledge to production staff
- Ability to perform production impact analysis and gap analysis on all the new regulatory and policy requirements or changes
- Ability to challenge risk stewards such as BFCR, FCC or other stakeholders on proposed process changes
- AML qualification (e.g. CAMS, ICA) and or post graduate Compliance degree is an advantage.
