Full job description
Your Role
Key responsibilities in your new role
Develop and lead key wafer function test hardware solutions, including tester-to-prober interfaces, probe interface boards, probe cards, docking hardware, and test head handling concepts
Translate product, equipment, and manufacturing requirements into robust hardware concepts that support different device technologies, tester platforms, prober models, and production environments
Contribute to the definition, refinement, and standardization of prober docking solutions for broader usage, with focus on repeatability, planarity control, alignment accuracy, maintainability, safety, and ease of setup
Drive hands-on design evaluation, hardware validation, first article assessment, debug, documentation, and release-to-production activities for wafer test hardware
Support innovation in wafer-level test hardware for power, mixed-signal, discrete, and wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies, including high-current, high-voltage, thermal, and precision measurement applications
Work closely with test engineering, product engineering, equipment engineering, manufacturing, quality, safety, and external suppliers to ensure hardware readiness for engineering builds, pilot runs, and production ramp
Analyze and resolve technical issues related to probe card interface performance, pogo tower or direct docking concepts, cable or soft docking, test head manipulator operation, mechanical tolerance stack-up, planarity, and wafer probing repeatability
Create and maintain design guidelines, troubleshooting methods, validation checklists, technical reports, and best practices to improve hardware quality and reduce recurring issues
Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians, share lessons learned, and help build internal capability in wafer test hardware development and prober integration
Your Profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Semiconductor Technology, or a related engineering discipline
Typically 8–12 years of relevant experience in semiconductor test, wafer probe, ATE hardware development, probe card technology, probe integration, test equipment engineering, or related hardware development roles
Strong practical understanding of wafer function test, wafer sort, probe process flow, probe card technologies, tester-to-prober integration, and production test requirements
Hands-on experience with probe interface boards, probe cards, docking hardware, pogo towers, direct docking, cable or soft docking concepts, manipulators, and test head handling systems is highly preferred
Ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, mechanical drawings, tolerance concepts, BOMs, and hardware design documentation
Experience with hardware validation, equipment buyoff, production release, root-cause analysis, statistical data analysis, GR&R or repeatability studies, and structured problem-solving methods such as 8Dor DOE
Strong analytical and hands-on troubleshooting capability, with the ability to convert complex technical constraints into practical, manufacturable, and maintainable hardware solutions
Good communication, stakeholder management, technical reporting, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and work effectively with external suppliers
Self-driven, accountable, collaborative, and comfortable working independently across multiple technical topics in a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment
