Monday to Friday · Weekly pay · Full training provided
Looking for a steady, hands-on job with a good team? We’ve got a spot at our Blenheim branch for a Rollformer Operator, running the machines that make quality roofing and cladding for builders across the top of the South Island.
Roofing Industries is part of the Vulcan Steel Group and has been supporting New Zealand roofers and builders for over 25 years. With branches nationwide, we manufacture and supply quality metal roofing, cladding, rainwater, and related products for residential, commercial, rural, and industrial projects.
What you’ll be doing
Operating roll forming machines to produce roofing and cladding products
Manufacturing corrugated, flashing, and cladding to order
Reading and following job sheets, measurements, and production instructions
Keeping an eye on coil stock and production materials
Using forklifts and overhead gantry cranes to move materials
Helping with loading trucks, dispatch, and customer collections
Keeping the factory clean, tidy, and safe
It’s a hands-on manufacturing role — there’s lifting and manual work involved, with machine and forklift help on the bigger gear.
What we’re after
Experience operating machinery in a manufacturing, factory, or production environment (roll forming, roofing, or sheet metal a real advantage)
Able to read measurements and follow job specifications
Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
Strong health & safety awareness
Forklift licence (F endorsement) and gantry crane experience preferred
A valid work visa or the right to work in New Zealand
Able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test
What’s in it for you
Weekly pay and steady, reliable hours
Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm— your weekends are your own
Full on-the-job training, so you’ll be set up to succeed
A supportive, team-focused branch where your effort gets noticed
A permanent role with a stable, nationwide business and room to grow
After 6 months you get health insurance

Vulcan has broadened its product offerings to include a diverse range of steel and metal products, from carbon steel to stainless steel, and everything in between, such as plate processing, coil processing, engineering steels, and aluminium. Our unwavering commitment to reliable service has driven our growth both organically and through the acquisition of well-established businesses. With over 70 branches throughout Australia and New Zealand and 1400+ employees across six business divisions, we are a leading force in the industry. Our extensive product range is used in every aspect of the economy, from the tiniest components in high-tech applications to large infrastructure and building projects.
Customer satisfaction is at the forefront of our priorities, and this is reflected in our consistently high Delivery in Full on Time (DIFOT) score in the high 90s. Our inventory levels are meticulously managed to ensure our customers always have access to the products they need. Our employees are empowered to make quick decisions in response to customer needs, and our transportation fleet, and quality products with traceability are just a few reasons why our customers trust us.
We have a unique non-hierarchical, single-status culture where everyone is encouraged and empowered to make their own decisions. This is a rare point of difference within our industry and a cultural foundation we're proud to maintain as we continue to grow. This flat structure keeps our business agile, efficient and extremely responsive and promotes a culture where all employees feel trusted, valued and fulfilled.
In 2022, Vulcan Steel took its place on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) and the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX).
