About the Role
Ventia is seeking an energetic and experienced GST (General Services Team) Supervisor to join our Auckland Council contract team. This role is responsible for leading a team that helps keep Auckland's public spaces clean, safe, and well maintained throughout the Howick and Maungakiekie areas.
Working across parks, reserves, public facilities, and town centres, you will lead a team undertaking a variety of maintenance and sanitation activities, including litter collection, bin servicing, cleaning, and general presentation of public amenities.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will motivate and support your team while ensuring high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support a facilities maintenance team
- Coordinate daily work activities and delegate tasks effectively
- Ensure public facilities, town centres, and surrounding areas are clean, tidy, and well maintained
- Oversee litter collection, bin runs, waste management, and sanitation services
- Complete staff rostering and timesheet approvals
- Respond professionally to public enquiries and complaints
- Conduct toolbox talks and promote a strong health and safety culture
- Train, coach, and mentor team members to achieve high performance
- Monitor quality standards and ensure attention to detail across all work completed
- Ensure vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained and fit for purpose
- Support operational requirements and continuous service improvement
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Previous experience leading and managing teams in facilities maintenance, cleaning, waste management, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of waste management and sanitation practices
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Experience managing staff rosters, task allocation, and timesheets
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and motivate team members
- Experience operating and managing plant equipment associated with town centre or public space maintenance
- A solid understanding of Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Confidence using smartphone applications and digital technology
- A full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence
