We currently have an opportunity for a Works Supervisor. Join our team and play a key role in delivery of contract services and day-to-day supervision of sub-contractor services. Reporting to Team Leader, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.
Te Kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
The Works Supervisor will provide direction and guidance to both Kāinga Ora personnel and subcontractors and ensure work is being performed as specified in work order and in accordance with contractual and business key performance indicators.
We are seeking someone with either social housing, facility maintenance or other related building and or trade-related experience. Do you have preferred knowledge in the following categories: Building, Glazing, Plumbing, Painting, Roofing, Surveying and Electrical etc. We want people with practical experience with a can-do attitude, wanting to help other people!
What You’ll Do (key responsibilities)
This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
- Ensuring the effective delivery of contract services and day to day supervision of sub-contractor services ensuring works are consistently undertaken to a high standard and within specification and value for money.
- Undertake regular assessments and audits to ensure regulatory and quality requirements are met and support continuous improvement in sub-contractor performance
- Building and maintaining strong, positive collaborative relationships with contractors and customers based on trust, integrity, and open communication
- Provide guidance and direction to Kainga Ora personnel and sub-contractors and ensure work is being performed as specified in work order and in accordance with contractual and business KPIs
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills (experience required)
- A trades background and ideally trade qualified and proven work history working as either a Site Supervisor or Foreperson
- Experience within facilities management and asset maintenance including the delivery of contractual KPIs via sub-contractor
- Experience in monitoring and evaluating the performance of subcontractors
- Has excellent time management and planning skills
- Familiarity and understanding of domestic building statutory obligations, codes of practice and Building code of New Zealand
- An understanding of project management principles along with the ability to read technical drawings and specifications
