We are looking for a Software Engineer with experience in UniData, MultiValue databases, and BASIC programming languages to contribute to the maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of enterprise Payroll and HR software products.

As a key member of the Engineering team, you will work on business-critical applications deployed across SaaS, mobile, and on-premises environments. The role involves software development, debugging, troubleshooting, application modernization, and continuous improvements to system reliability and scalability.

You will also leverage modern AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to accelerate development, improve code quality, enhance system understanding, and optimize engineering workflows.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with UniData or related MultiValue technologies, strong programming fundamentals, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, QA, Product Management, Customer Support, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, debug, and enhance applications using UniData BASIC / MultiValue BASIC.
  
• Use development, editing, and debugging tools to identify and resolve software issues.
  
• Maintain and enhance existing Payroll and HR software applications.
  
• Use AI-assisted coding tools, such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code, to accelerate development and improve engineering workflows.
  
• Collaborate with QA Engineers to ensure application quality, functionality, reliability, and performance.
  
• Troubleshoot complex issues across multiple application tiers.
  
• Identify and resolve technical problems proactively while escalating issues when additional support is required.
  
• Continuously improve the reliability, maintainability, performance, and scalability of existing applications.
  
• Participate actively in Agile software development teams.
  
• Contribute to and, when appropriate, lead priority R&D and technical improvement initiatives.
  
• Develop deep expertise across multiple areas of the product, its underlying technologies, architecture, and design patterns.
  
• Build and consume RESTful web services and APIs.
  
• Collaborate closely with Software Engineers, QA, Product Management, Customer Support, and other cross-functional teams.
  
• Manage development priorities and deliver assigned work within established deadlines.
  
• Apply software engineering best practices, including Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  

Requisitos

• Hands-on experience with UniData or related MultiValue database technologies.
  
• Experience programming with UniData BASIC, MultiValue BASIC, or strong experience with a comparable BASIC language that enables rapid adoption.
  
• Solid software development, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  
• Experience developing and maintaining enterprise software applications.
  
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs / web services.
  
• Knowledge of JavaScript, Java, and HTML5/CSS.
  
• Experience working with Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
  
• Knowledge of Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  
• Ability to troubleshoot issues across different application layers.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, QA, Product Management, and Customer Support teams.
  
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
  
• Proactive mindset with the ability to identify when technical assistance or escalation is required.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SB (SystemBuilder)+ or other 4GL technologies.
  
• Additional programming experience with Java, Scala, JavaScript, or similar languages.
  
• Experience using AI-assisted software development tools, particularly GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code.
  
• Previous experience developing or supporting Payroll, Human Resources (HR), or Accounting software.
  
• Experience working with SaaS and/or on-premises enterprise applications.
