- Ongoing Full Time, 35 hours per week
- Location: Willing to consider candidates across all NSW locations. Preference will be given to candidates based regionally, with a focus on Queanbeyan, Armidale, Dubbo and Coffs Harbour
- Clerk Grade 9/10 – salary from $129,464 to $142,665 per annum (FTE) plus super and leave loading
About the Role
In this dynamic role, you will coordinate the development and implementation of emergency management strategies, policies, and plans that strengthen NSW’s preparedness and response capability. Working closely with hazard owners, internal teams, and external partners, you’ll help build a skilled, scalable emergency response workforce across the organisation.
You’ll support the team with operational decision making, information requests, and relief duties during emergency events. You’ll also represent the organisation on internal, state, and national committees, providing specialist advice that shapes emergency management outcomes.
A key part of your role is stepping into response operations when emergencies occur, liaising with stakeholders, supporting continuity of services, and ensuring DPIRD meets its emergency management responsibilities. This is a fast paced, high impact role where your strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and problem solving skills will make a real difference.
About You

- Emergency management capability — Experience coordinating strategies, policies, or plans that support emergency readiness and response.
- Solutions‑focused problem solving — Ability to analyse complex issues, use intelligence and data, and deliver practical, timely solutions.
- Stakeholder engagement strength — Skilled at building relationships across diverse teams, disciplines, and external partners.
- Resilience under pressure — Comfortable managing shifting priorities, demanding workloads, and operational pressures during emergencies.
- Collaborative mindset — Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and support business continuity during response operations.
- Adaptability and responsiveness — Ready to step into emergency roles at any time and contribute to operational activities as required.
Essential criteria:
- Valid driver licence
- Emergency Management and operational experience and possession of current emergency qualifications or a willingness to obtain qualifications and competencies in emergency management
- Willingness to travel. The position is required to travel including overnight and to work after hours
