Responsibilities
The Quality Director will develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy for the MEH Alliance to ensure all mechanical, electrical, and HVAC installations meet nuclear safety and regulatory standards. They will lead the quality function, standardizing processes across partners and driving a strong quality culture throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading large, complex quality functions within industrial engineering projects. Strong operational leadership, stakeholder management skills, and prior experience in the nuclear sector are highly desirable.
NG Bailey are proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset. This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey, the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, are proud to be part of the MEH Alliance, a joint venture todeliver the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project.
As we grow and progress on the project, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality Director to join us on the project in Bridgwater.
The role will ensure that quality is embedded into how the Alliance plans, executes and records its work, enabling the programme to demonstrate that the Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC scope has been installed and verified in accordance with nuclear safety and regulatory expectations.
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
Develop and implement the MEH Alliance Quality Strategy, ensuring it supports the successful delivery of the programme and aligns with HPC quality and regulatory expectations. Ensuring that quality is fully integrated across construction planning, installation processes, verification and inspection regimes, handover and completion process.
Lead the programme wide approach to the production, validation and acceptance of quality records, ensuring that documentation is complete, accurate, traceable and delivered on time.
Create a single coherent quality approach across all Alliance partners, removing fragmentation between partner systems and processes. Ensuring that:
Quality expectations are clear and consistent
Roles and responsibilities are understood
Quality processes are standardised wherever possible
Assess the capability of the existing Quality organisation and implement any changes required to ensure it is fit for purpose for the next phase of the programme.
Ensure the programme has the right skills, structure and leadership capability within the quality function. Develop the capability of the quality community across the Alliance
Drive the development of a strong quality culture across the Alliance, where quality is understood as a fundamental part of safe and effective delivery.
Establish clear governance arrangements to ensure quality performance is monitored, reported and acted upon.
Develop meaningful performance metrics that allow leadership teams to understand record production progress, emerging risks and areas requiring investigation/intervention.
What we’re looking for:
Previous experience leading large and complex quality functions in long term industrial engineering projects.
Strong operational leadership capabilities
Excellent stakeholder management, in particular coordinating with stakeholders across various functions, both internal and external to the alliance.
Confidence in escalating issues and driving operational accountability
Prior experience in Nuclear would be very advantageous due to the stage of the project we are in
Calm, structured and delivery-focused leadership style
Benefits
We are able to offer a competitive salary with generous uplift and allowances for working away from home where required.
25 days holiday per annum, plus bank holidays
Pension with leading provider and up to 8% employer contribution
Private healthcare
Discounts
Personal development programme
Flexible Benefits
Please apply with an up to date CV, detailing your salary/package expectations.
Next Steps:
