Summary of Job Duties:
The Research Program Manager reports to the Director of the Division of Pharmaceutical Evaluation and Policy and supports the Division Director and faculty in the design, implementation, evaluation, presentation, and publication of research and evaluation projects.
This position manages the Division’s research portfolio, coordinates project activities, monitors regulatory compliance, supports grant and manuscript development, oversees project budgets and timelines, and supervises research personnel. The Research Program Manager works independently within established guidelines, with occasional direct supervision, and collaborates regularly with UAMS departments, external universities, research organizations, government agencies, clinical and research partners, and the public.
Some travel may be required, approximately 5%–10%.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Science or social science field, business administration or other research discipline with 5 years in research support or research project coordination experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong planning, organizational, and project coordination abilities.
Ability to prepare comprehensive reports summarizing project findings.
Knowledge of human-subjects research requirements and Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes.
Knowledge of research planning, methods, analysis techniques, and procedures.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in science or social science field, business administration, healthcare administration, public health, or other research discipline.
Skills in technical writing, grant writing, budgeting for research grants, preparing online training tools. Experience with state and federal laws and regulations. Knowledge of UAMS systems, include Workday, grants management, and CLARA.

Manage the Division’s research portfolio, including internal and external collaborative projects.
Coordinate project activities, communications, study startup, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.
Develop and monitor project goals, budgets, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
Ensure compliance with human-subjects research requirements and established research protocols.
Serve as a liaison among the Division Director, OSPAN, IRB, UAMS investigators, study sites, and external stakeholders.
Provide technical writing support for grant applications, research documents, reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
Identify project challenges, recommend solutions, and maintain research files, data, protocols, and tracking systems.
Lead project meetings and facilitate communication among project teams and partners.
Train and supervise graduate research assistants, research assistants, project coordinators, and other assigned personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Director.
