About the team
People and Culture are dedicated to fostering an engaged and empowered workplace. One that’s strong, diverse and where our team members have exciting career pathways to choose from. We do it by making people’s lives easier through better experiences, useful tools, and by providing ongoing opportunities to learn and grow.
Our Workforce Design & Transformation team partners across Coles Group to solve complex organisational challenges, shape future operating models and design the workforce required to deliver our strategy. Operating as an enterprise internal consulting capability, we bring together organisation design, workforce planning, change and transformation expertise to deliver practical, sustainable business outcomes.
About the Role:
As a Workforce Design & Transformation Specialist, you will work across enterprise transformation engagements from diagnosis and design through to transition and implementation.
You will help leaders respond to changing customer expectations, emerging technology and the growing role of AI in work. Applying structured problem-solving, workforce and organisation design methods, you will develop evidence-based recommendations and translate strategic ambition into practical workforce outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing - working across multidisciplinary engagement squads, you will:
Translate enterprise strategy and transformation priorities into clear workforce implications, requirements and design responses.
Lead defined workstreams across organisation design, operating model, workforce planning and broader transformation engagements.
Reimagine work to identify how AI, automation and emerging technology can improve customer outcomes, productivity and team member experience.
Analyse work, roles, organisational structures, capabilities, workforce data and ways of working to identify opportunities.
Design future-state workforce and organisational solutions aligned to business strategy and operational requirements.
Design new ways of working and behavioural change interventions that support adoption and embed transformation outcomes.
Facilitate workshops and design sessions with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
Build trusted relationships across business functions, enterprise transformation teams and People & Culture.
Contribute to the methodologies, frameworks and tools that strengthen our Workforce Design & Transformation practice.
About You:
You are a consulting-oriented practitioner who can move confidently between strategy, analysis, design and implementation.
You bring structure to ambiguity, communicate complex ideas clearly and engage credibly with senior stakeholders. You are likely to have developed your experience in management consulting, internal consulting, workforce strategy, organisation design or enterprise transformation.
You will bring:
Experience delivering workforce transformation, organisation design, operating model, change or broader business transformation engagements.
Demonstrated ownership of a workstream or major deliverable within a complex transformation initiative.
Strong structured problem-solving, analytical and synthesis capability.
Experience developing executive-ready recommendations and transformation artefacts.
Strong workshop facilitation, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
An understanding of how organisation design, workforce planning, role design, change and implementation activities connect.
Strong delivery discipline and the ability to manage multiple priorities in complex environments.
Curiosity, adaptability and a practical, outcomes-focused mindset.
Experience in management consulting or an internal consulting environment will be highly regarded. Deeper capability in one or more of organisation design, operating model design, workforce planning, role design, workforce analytics, change or transition planning will also be valued.
Why Join Coles Group
This is an opportunity to work on enterprise-scale transformation within one of Australia’s largest and most complex organisations.
You will gain exposure to varied business challenges, work directly with senior stakeholders and contribute across the full transformation lifecycle, rom problem definition and design through to implementation and embedding.
