About the Team

This role sits within the finance function supporting the Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (Benelux) region.

 

The Benelux finance team is responsible for delivering accurate, well-controlled financial operations across the region. You will report into the Senior Finance Manager (Benelux) and play a key role in supporting the delivery of finance activities across Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

 

This is a senior hands-on accounting role, offering broad exposure across financial accounting, VAT, payroll accounting, statutory reporting, audit and regulatory reporting. Working closely with the Senior Finance Manager, you will take ownership of key accounting workstreams while supporting the continued delivery of high-quality finance operations across the region.

 

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support the Senior Finance Manager in delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled finance operations across the Benelux region.

 

This is a senior hands-on role supporting the full range of financial accounting activity across Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Responsibilities include month-end close, general ledger accounting, payroll accounting, supplier accounting oversight, expenses, VAT preparation, statutory and regulatory reporting, audit preparation, banking, forecasting support and working capital activities.

 

You will prepare review-ready financial information, investigate and resolve accounting issues, support statutory compliance and work closely with internal stakeholders, external accountants, auditors, payroll providers and shared service teams.

 

The role requires someone who can work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of agreed workstreams. You will also provide operational cover for the Senior Finance Manager during periods of absence, helping to maintain key accounting, statutory and regulatory activities while ensuring finance deadlines continue to be met.

 

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

 

• Strong accounting experience at Senior Accountant level, ideally within a professional services, legal, consulting or international environment.

• Strong general ledger experience, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, payroll postings, journals and month-end support.

• Good VAT knowledge, including experience preparing VAT returns, reconciliations and supporting indirect tax compliance.

• Experience supporting statutory audits, year-end reporting and statutory accounts preparation.

• Experience working across multiple entities, jurisdictions or currencies, preferably within a Benelux or international structure.

• Strong Excel skills and experience with finance systems; SAP, Concur and Tagetik would be advantageous.

• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, review-ready work under pressure.

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities independently.

• Confidence working with internal stakeholders, external accountants, auditors, payroll providers and shared service teams.

• A proactive, collaborative approach with sound judgement on when to resolve issues independently and when to escalate matters.

• The ability to provide operational cover for the Senior Finance Manager during periods of absence.

 

A finance qualification is required (e.g. bachelor's or master's in accounting or finance).

 

Language requirements: Fluent English is essential. French is required to support Luxembourg-related work, and Dutch would be an advantage.
