Requires a high school diploma and over 10 years of experience in teaching or training within the child welfare field. Must have experience working with at-risk children and families and the ability to travel regionally.
POSITION SUMMARY: This is a professional position administering the SNAP (Stop Now and Plan) curriculum to either the parent or child group during the 13-week SNAP group cycle. SNAP is a cognitive-behavioral strategy that helps children and parents regulate their emotions by getting them to stop, think, and plan positive alternatives before they act impulsively. In addition to the duties and requirements listed below, YFA expects employees to be committed to incorporating principles of trauma-informed care in all areas of service delivery. Commitment to these principles is demonstrated through active participation in agency-required training, use of trauma-informed practices, and understanding that trauma-informed environments require cultural sensitivity and an emphasis on a safe and respectful environment for all.
The SNAP Program serves children ages 6-11 years old who are experiencing impulse and emotional control issues. This program helps children, and their parents learn how to effectively manage emotions, maintain consistency, and keep problems or behaviors from escalating. This program is a 13-week program that meets weekly. The SNAP Facilitator is responsible for administering the SNAP curriculum to the parent or child group. The Facilitator must attend the 5-day core SNAP training once hired. In addition, before group sessions begin, the Facilitator will assist in completing a debrief and debrief before and after each group, meeting with the families if they are to need further assistance with the curriculum.
Part-time, up to 20 hrs. a week to meet the needs of our programs. Some daytime and evening availability needed. Group sessions and classroom sessions are held at different site locations within a County geographic area.
Required: High School diploma and 10+ years’ experience engaging, teaching, and training in the child welfare field. Experience working with at-risk children and families.
Preferred: Experience in CINS/FINS, Non-Residential, and Residential/Shelter settings a plus.
Physical Requirements: Ability to travel regionally on a regular basis and statewide as needed; ability to bend, lift, and carry 30 pounds.
