What does Creative Technologist do at WPP Production?

The Creative Technologist, increasingly functioning under the emerging title of AI Producer, serves as the high-velocity execution engine of the modern creative process. Operating at the intersection of artistic vision and complex software, you will act as a highly autonomous, trusted, technical and creative leader who elevates the work of the whole team. You will bring abstract, conceptual ideas to immediate life by rapidly building functional prototypes and generating high-fidelity visual and auditory assets utilizing the latest suite of emerging generative technologies. You will operate as the indispensable, highly fluent translator bridging the traditionally subjective creative department and the highly objective software engineering divisions.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership & Brief Translation: Translate briefs and provide senior team leaders with a formal proposal outlining technical and/or creative approaches. Assume a leading role in Gen AI projects, bringing the best out of less experienced technical or creative team members, and senior leadership.
• Rapid Generation & Iteration: Act as a rapid generator, producing countless AI-driven variations of creative assets in real-time to fuel the live testing sprints. Meticulously manage the complex prompt engineering process, iteratively refining the generated outputs based on immediate performance feedback.
• Proactive R&D & Prototyping: Drive proactive R&D for emerging technologies in order to upskill the team as a whole. Rigorously evaluate how volatile tools can be safely and reliably fitted into real-world commercial creative workflows without compromising strict corporate brand standards or triggering copyright violations.
• Workflow Automation & Blueprinting: Develop new technical and/or creative pipelines for work with emerging technologies or new AI models. Develop lightweight digital tools, customized automated templates, and secure platform integrations that seamlessly package highly complex generative capabilities into safe, accessible formats that can be easily utilized by non-technical Business As Usual team members.
• Mentorship & Representation: Represent the work of a multi-disciplined project team to internal and client audiences , presenting work, capabilities and/or thought leadership to senior levels of agency leadership. Provide leadership support to projects by supervising, mentoring and project oversight for less experienced Creative Technologists.

 

Requirements

• 8+ years bridging traditional creative production, post-production, and strict project management.
• Expertise with generative AI models such that a leading role in Gen AI projects can be assumed.
• Advanced skills in multiple technical areas, for example: Coding (Front-end/Back-end/APIs), 3D (Unreal, Omniverse/Extensions, 3D Modelling) 2D (Digital illustration, motion graphics).
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating agentic workflows to autonomously scale and refine creative outputs.
• Solid understanding of traditional industry-standard visual effects, animation, and post-production software, such as the Adobe Creative Suite (PR/AE/PS/AI), and Blender/C4D, allowing for necessary light compositing, color correction, and format adaptations of raw AI-generated assets.
• Deep, working understanding of modern copyright law, data and intellectual property usage policies, and accessibility standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Management

• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of WPP Production’s business model, services and technology.
• Review team structure and resource on an ongoing basis to ensure client is serviced appropriately whilst maintaining agreed profitability.
• Proactively manage client expectations, clearly defining deliverables, scope, and timelines.
• Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring consistent and transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain strong working relationships with clients and drive client growth.

2. Project Management

• Orchestrate collaboration between all internal departments (e.g., creative, retouching, content, broadcast, etc.) and external stakeholders (clients and agencies) to facilitate efficient project execution.
• Drive the successful delivery of projects with the assistance of junior accounts, manage and execute key projects/campaigns, such as video shoots.
• Monitor internal workflows, identify areas for improvement and make recommendations.
• Ensure full compliance with all financial procedures and policies.

3. Quality Control

• Act as a critical guardian of client brands, ensuring all produced content rigorously adheres to brand guidelines, style guides, and WPP Production’s internal quality control procedures.
• Ensure creative and technical excellence across all deliverables, reflecting WPP Production’s commitment to outstanding content experiences.

 

Requirements

• 8 years of proven experience in account management within a creative/production agency, or similar client-facing role for brands.
• Extensive experience in developing strategies for IMC campaigns and creating various types of content, also familiar with ATL, BTL and social.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple accounts and projects simultaneously.
• A proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, capable of working effectively under pressure and quickly assimilating large quantities of information while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience of running a strong dynamic account team including resource planning.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent written & verbal skills in English is a must.
• Management of Global / Regional accounts is a plus.
