Job Summary:
Quality Assurance for Specialty & Industrial Gases supports laboratory and analytical operations within the Specialty Gas Division. This role ensures that compressed gases are filled, tested, verified, documented, and released in accordance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.

This position serves as a key technical and quality resource for gas analysis, product quality, laboratory processes, and compliance-related documentation. This position works closely with operations, production, and sales to support product integrity, assist with quality issue resolution, and promote continuous improvement in laboratory processes, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory and Analytical Support
  • Support and maintain daily laboratory activities, workflows, testing priorities, and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor laboratory procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations for accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Maintain, monitor, and assist with calibration, maintenance, and performance checks for laboratory instruments and analytical equipment.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for analytical instrumentation, including gas chromatography.
  • Support accuracy, turnaround time, and data integrity in laboratory testing and documentation.
  • Provide process direction and technical guidance related to laboratory procedures, testing requirements, documentation, and analytical processes.
  • Communicate regularly between the laboratory, operations, production, and sales teams.
Quality Control and Analytical Testing
  • Perform and/or review analysis of compressed gases, including composition, purity, pressure, and fill verification.
  • Support testing of specialty, industrial, medical, food-grade, and USP gases, where applicable.
    Review and approve analytical data, Certificates of Analysis, Certificates of Compliance, and product release documentation as assigned.
  • Support quality-related decision-making regarding testing results, documentation, and product release.
  • Help maintain traceability and compliance with applicable standards, including NIST and EPA protocols.
  • Maintain complete and accurate laboratory, analytical, and production records.
  • Assist with daily, weekly, and periodic calibrations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and service needs for analytical and fill plant equipment.
Production & Specialty Gas Support
  • Support cylinder preparation, gas filling, and blending operations as needed.
  • Assist with verification and validation of specialty gas mixtures.
  • Help ensure cylinder filling, analytical, and handling procedures are followed, including Local Work Instructions (LWI).
  • Partner with operations to support timely order fulfillment, product availability, and quality expectations.
  • Communicate quality concerns, testing issues, documentation needs, or process gaps to appropriate team members and management.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Support compliance with company policies, quality procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with quality system development, audits, corrective actions, and process improvements.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to support quality, safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to a culture of quality, precision, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, analytical methods, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
  • Support standardization, documentation, and best practices within specialty gas operations.
  • Assist with quality system development, audits, corrective actions, and process improvements.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to support quality, safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to a culture of quality, precision, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, preferably gas chromatography.
  • Knowledge of compressed gas handling, pressure systems, calibration practices, and quality documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a production-focused environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with operations, production, sales, and management.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and support consistent process execution.
Preferred
  • Experience in specialty gas, industrial gas, compressed gas manufacturing, or distribution.
  • Experience in laboratory analysis, quality assurance, or quality control.
  • Familiarity with DOT cylinder regulations and CGA standards.
  • Experience with USP, medical, food-grade, or EPA protocol gas requirements.
  • Experience supporting audits, corrective actions, process documentation, or quality system improvements.
  • Prior experience providing technical guidance, training support, or process direction in a laboratory or production setting.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to work in a laboratory, production, and cylinder filling environment.
  • Ability to safely work around compressed gases, high-pressure cylinders, cryogenic materials, and analytical equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform hands-on testing or equipment-related tasks as needed.
  • Ability to lift or move items within company safety guidelines and with appropriate assistance when required.
