Full job description
Serco is a place where you can grow
Your impact makes a meaningful difference, and we’re committed to supporting your professional and personal goals.
You’ll also have access to flexible benefits designed to support your wellbeing and growth, including:
Flexible work arrangements supporting a real work-life balance
Ongoing professional development and training support
Access to employee wellbeing and assistance programs
Career opportunities within a multinational services company
Inclusive and supportive transition pathways from Defence
Meaningful work supporting Australia’s Defence capability
Exposure to cutting-edge defence technology
Work on critical defence contracts with long-term stability
Make an impact at Serco
As a Weapons Technician, you’ll play an important role supporting the Mini Typhoon, Typhoon and Toplite (MTTT) contract, helping maintain critical Defence capability through the delivery of specialist maintenance and technical support services.
Working within a highly skilled team, you’ll support the operational readiness and availability of naval weapon systems used by the Royal Australian Navy. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity that offers the chance to continue contributing to Defence outcomes while working alongside experienced military and industry professionals.
As a Weapons Technician, you’ll make a positive impact by:
Delivering corrective and preventative maintenance across MTTT systems and associated equipment
Maintaining, calibrating and repairing automated test equipment to support operational requirements
Respond to urgent defects tasking, ensuring timely and effective resolution of system issues.
Providing technical advice and guidance
Managing technical records, defect reporting and asset information within the maintenance management system
Supporting quality assurance activities and driving continuous improvement across the contract
Serco is a place for you
You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy solving complex technical problems, working collaboratively and taking pride in maintaining systems that support Defence capability. You’ll bring strong technical knowledge, a safety-first mindset and the ability to build productive relationships across Defence, industry partners and contractors.
You could be a great fit if you have:
Experience in R.A.N. systems or weapons maintenance, repair and quality assurance.
Strong technical knowledge of complex engineering plant and defence-related systems and equipment.
Demonstrated experience coordinating maintenance activities across multiple suppliers and subcontractors.
Experience supporting ship maintenance activities within a performance and KPI-driven environment.
Experience working within engineering or marine engineering environments.
Minimum technical Trade Certificate or Cert IV in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering desirable.
Proficient in the use of the IFS Asset Management System or equivalent Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
The ability to coordinate maintenance resources and supervise contractors.
Willingness to travel and work across different locations and vessels
A commitment to upholding the highest standards of trust and responsibility
Please note:
This position carries trust and responsibility. To support this, a comprehensive probity assessment, including a National Police Check, is a key part of the selection process for this role.
As this role requires an Australian Defence Security Clearance, applicants must be Australian Citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain that clearance. If successful, Serco will manage and sponsor the clearance process.
Are you ready to do important work that really matters?
At Serco, we bring together the right people, the right technology, and the right partners to create impactful solutions that address some of the world’s most urgent and complex challenges.
We focus on serving governments all over the globe. The work we do has touched the lives of millions in Australia and New Zealand and offers unique opportunities to apply your skills across our core capabilities in health, defence, maritime, justice, immigration and community services.
We seek and celebrate diversity and encourage applications from all backgrounds and cultures, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTQI+, veterans and people with disability.
By joining Serco, you’ll have access to Employee Networks led by colleagues who are passionate about diversity, inclusion and belonging.
