Valens is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Training Development Specialist to join our team at the Fort Bragg Military Base located in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The Training Development Specialist (TDS) serves as the curriculum architect and steward of training quality for the Specialized Training Support program supporting U.S. Army Special Operations Command. In this role, the TDS shapes and sustains program-related courses, lesson plans, and training products to ensure they remain operationally relevant, technically accurate, compliant with U.S. Army Training Requirements Analysis System (TRAS) standards, and aligned with Government training objectives across two geographically separated training detachment locations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the curriculum architect for assigned doctrine and training products, shaping courses, major units of instruction, lesson plans, and supporting materials to meet Army, TRADOC, USASOC, SOCOM, SOCoE, and DOTD standards
  • Conduct research, mission analysis, and review of Army, ARSOF, Joint, Multi-Service, and Special Operations doctrine, tactics, techniques, procedures, lessons learned, experimentation reports, AUTL/UJTL tasks, and operational feedback to inform IW-related doctrine and training products
  • Develop, update, and maintain POIs, ITPs, CADs, lesson plans, individual and collective tasks, doctrine products, and supporting training materials in accordance with TRAS, TP 350-70-1, Army regulatory guidance, SOCoE policies and procedures, and applicable SOPs
  • Maintain proficiency in applicable Army systems of record, including TRAS, TDC, ATIS, ATMS, ATMS Dev Tool, FMSWeb, the Army Training Network, and the Central Army Registry, to develop, update, staff, publish, and assess assigned products
  • Review, validate, and integrate lesson plan revisions, task updates, doctrine inputs, and SME recommendations to preserve instructional accuracy, technical validity, operational relevance, and compliance with Government-directed requirements
  • Evaluate training and doctrine products for applicability, adequacy, currency, technical accuracy, instructional effectiveness, and achievement of established learning objectives
  • Conduct training improvement analyses and implement curriculum enhancements informed by Government direction, operational feedback, peer review, self-assessment findings, and evolving IW mission requirements
  • Coordinate with Government leads, SMEs, instructors, operational units, other Army Centers of Excellence, doctrine developers, and CATS stakeholders to support doctrine integration, training opportunities, product standardization, and accurate entry into systems of record
  • Prepare draft products, staffing packages, approval documents, briefings, progress updates, and after-action review reports that communicate product status, analytical findings, recommendations, and implications for training development
  • Conduct peer reviews and support product validation activities, including travel when required, to observe training, validate doctrine or training products, and integrate with other agencies, operational commands, and subordinate units
  • Provide curriculum and doctrine development support across Det-East and Det-West training locations to promote standardization, consistency, continuity of instruction, and alignment with Government training objectives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years’ experience within the last five years supporting military training development, curriculum design, doctrine or instructional product development, or institutional training management
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, refine, and sustain POIs, ITPs, CADs, lesson plans, and related instructional materials within a formal military training environment
  • Practical experience working within TRAS or comparable Army training management, documentation, or systems-of-record environments
  • Experience in campaign planning and operational integration
  • Proven judgment in assessing training products for technical accuracy, instructional soundness, operational relevance, and alignment with established learning objectives
  • Experience collaborating with SMEs, instructors, and Government stakeholders to translate operational requirements into structured, compliant, and executable training products
  • Active Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Operational experience supporting Special Forces, Civil Affairs, Psychological Operations, Ranger Regiment Irregular Warfare or closely related mission sets
  • Prior experience developing, managing, or modernizing curriculum at SWCS or within the SWCS Directorate of Training and Doctrine (DOTD)
  • Strongly prefer a graduate of an Army Doctrine Developer Course or TRADOC-recognized equivalent
  • Graduate of an Advanced Special Operations Techniques (ASOT) course or equivalent advanced operational training program
  • Completion of a Training Developer Workshop (TDW), Test Developer Course (TDC), or comparable Army training development course
  • Graduate of a recognized instructor certification program, such as the SWCS Basic Instructor Course, TRADOC Basic Instructor Course, or Government-approved equivalent
  • Familiarity with ARSOF institutional training standards, accreditation requirements, curriculum governance, and training modernization initiatives
  • Experience working in a non-personal services environment
