Requirements
Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with over 10 years of experience in hardware development. Candidates must possess strong leadership skills and expertise in analog/digital circuit design, power electronics, and aerospace development standards.
Full job description
Your Mission:
As Team Lead Airborne Electronics (all genders), you will join the VÆRIDION Technology team and lead the development of airborne electronic hardware supporting the propulsion battery system. You will be responsible for guiding the design, development, integration, and verification of electronic systems for battery management, high-voltage monitoring, and power electronics supporting VÆRIDION’s CS-23 all-electric aircraft.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team developing airborne electronics for battery management systems, high-voltage sensing and protection, and power electronics such as solid-state power controllers and inverter interfaces. This role combines technical leadership, system integration oversight, and program coordination, ensuring that electronic systems supporting the propulsion battery system meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Your work will directly contribute to the development of the high-voltage electrical power system at the core of VÆRIDION’s electric propulsion architecture.
Your Day-to-Day:
Lead the design and development of airborne electronic hardware supporting propulsion battery monitoring, control, protection, and high-voltage power distribution.
Manage and mentor a team of electronics engineers responsible for battery management electronics, sensing systems, and power electronics hardware.
Define system architectures and hardware concepts for battery management electronics, high-voltage monitoring and protection systems, solid-state power controllers (SSPCs), and inverter interface electronics.
Oversee schematic capture, PCB development, and component selection for both low-voltage control electronics and high-voltage power electronics systems.
Establish and implement airborne electronics development processes aligned with aviation standards and certification requirements.
Coordinate cross-disciplinary integration with systems engineering, propulsion, battery, software, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Guide the development and validation of power electronics hardware, including protection circuits, switching devices, gate drivers, sensing systems, and control electronics.
Oversee hardware prototyping, board bring-up, and bench-level debugging, ensuring rapid iteration from concept prototypes through to flight-representative hardware.
Plan and oversee hardware verification activities including functional testing, environmental testing, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) validation.
Lead technical design reviews and ensure electronic systems meet reliability, safety, and certification requirements.
Collaborate closely with safety and systems engineering on the functional safety of the electronics hardware, providing design inputs to the hazard and safety assessments (FHA, PSSA, SSA) and ensuring the hardware meets its allocated Design Assurance Levels (DAL) in line with ARP4754A/ARP4761 and DO-254 objectives.
Own reliability engineering activities for the electronics hardware, including FMEA/FMECA, reliability prediction (MTBF), component derating, and worst-case circuit analysis.
Support supplier selection and technical evaluation of electronic components, power electronics modules, and manufacturing partners.
Ensure design-for-manufacture (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) principles are applied, and lead the transfer of electronics designs into serial production with manufacturing and supply-chain partners.
Contribute to certification planning by supporting compliance documentation, design assurance activities, and system traceability.
Drive continuous improvement of electronics development workflows, toolchains, and testing methodologies.
Your Profile:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in electronic hardware development, preferably in aerospace, aviation, or defense industries.
Proven experience leading or coordinating engineering teams developing airborne electronic hardware.
Strong experience in analog and digital circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB development.
Experience with power electronics hardware, including switching devices, gate drivers, protection circuits, or high-voltage control electronics.
Experience with battery management systems, high-voltage monitoring electronics, electric propulsion systems, SSPCs, or inverter electronics is highly desirable.
Proficiency with electronic design automation tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence, or Mentor Graphics.
Knowledge of aerospace electronic development standards such as DO-254, DO-160, MIL-STD-461, or related qualification frameworks is beneficial.
Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
Ability to manage complex technical tasks while supporting project schedules and engineering milestones.
Fluent English language skills are essential; German language skills are beneficial.
We recognize that women and other under-represented groups are often overlooked in our industry. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every listed qualification, we still encourage you to apply. Talent and potential can’t always be captured in a checklist.
Why us?
