Provides patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse, including cleaning, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment. Performs clerical, phlebotomy, and safety attendant duties while adhering to standard precautions and infection control policies.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and a current CNA, Phlebotomy, or CMA/CCMA/RMA certification. Candidates should possess basic computer knowledge, medical terminology familiarity, and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

As a member of the UVA Community Health team, individuals contribute to patient care decisions, support advanced medical technologies, and experience the satisfaction of making a difference in people’s lives every day.
Provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the population assigned. Receives assignments as delegated by the RN. The Certified Technical Assistant will be able to access data reflective of the patient’s status and report the information needed to identify each patients needs relative to this information. Provides care based on established policies and procedures. The Technical Assistant performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within their scope.
High School Diploma or GED required.
1 year of experience preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Current CNA, Phlebotomy, or CMA/CCMA/RMA certification with state required.
Basic computer knowledge with demonstrated administrative skills. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated critical thinking skills. High level of compassion, desire to help others and highly motivated.

Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment. The base compensation for this role is $19.61 hourly.
Please note that the pay rate does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
