Job Description
This position exists to provide leadership, organization, and technical expertise, training, and development of student-athletes with respect to producing a competitive baseball program. Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to assisting with: budget management, travel planning, tournament assistance, monitoring academic progress, community relations, and recruiting. This position will be expected to recruit student athletes that will assist UNLV baseball in becoming highly competitive both in conference and nationally. This position will work directly with the facility and game operations staff to host home baseball events, as well as practice, competition and other special events. In addition to the established role, this position may act as the lead contact with the game day manager for all home baseball tournaments. This position will assist in the academic mission of the program by working directly with our academic support staff to monitor academic progress of the student- athletes. This position will work directly with strength and conditioning staff to coordinate sport and position specific workouts as well as communicate through the head coach as it relates to student-athlete needs and restrictions. Overall, this position is expected to teach student- athletes the game of baseball, promote and foster academic success, contribute to the overall development of the athlete in meeting the intellectual and ethical challenges and values of life and responsible citizenship by enhancing critical thinking, leadership skills, and social integrity, and finally, accomplish recognition as one of the top national baseball programs.
This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, this position will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional polices.
