The Family Resource Specialist supports children and families in the Head Start program by building relationships and connecting them with essential health, education, and employment resources. The role also leads ERSEA activities to maintain full enrollment and ensure consistent participation.
A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is required, along with one year of experience working with young children and their families. A valid State of Wisconsin driver's license is also mandatory.
The Family Resource Specialist supports children and families enrolled in UW Oshkosh Head Start by building strong relationships, identifying family strengths and goals, and connecting families with resources that promote well-being and school readiness.
Through home visits, assessments, and ongoing support, this position helps families access services such as health care, education, counseling, crisis assistance, and employment resources. The role also provides guidance on health, nutrition, and safety and supports families in meeting medical and dental requirements.
This position leads eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance (ERSEA) activities, helping maintain full enrollment and consistent participation. The Family Resource Specialist works closely with staff and community partners to expand access to services and supports continuous improvement efforts to meet Head Start standards and strengthen outcomes for children and families.

Head Start
Base Salary Range $40,879 - $44,756
Prorated Salary of $34,584 - $37,863 for 44 weeks of work each year from first week in August to the second week in June.
Bachelors degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field.
One year experience working with young children and their families.
Valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license.
Experience and knowledge of UW Oshkosh Head Start, Family Service Credential or general Head Start experience.
Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural issues and local community practices.
Skills and knowledge to access appropriate community resources.
Experience using the Child Plus data system.
