Job Category:
Academic Staff
Employment Type:
Terminal (Fixed Term)
Job Profile:
Lecturer
Job Duties:
While there may not be an immediate need for a lecturer in every area, UW-Stevens Point (UWSP) accepts applications regardless, in order to create a pool for when there may be a need. Upon successful submission of your application, you will be considered for future part-time associate lecturer/lecturer/senior lecturer opportunities, and your application will be on file as a potential candidate who could possibly fill a position if or when the need arises.
An associate lecturer/lecturer/senior lecturer is hired on a per-course basis each semester, and teaching one semester does not guarantee being assigned the following semester. The teaching hours for an associate lecturer/lecturer/senior lecturer will vary with a teaching load ranging between 1-12 credits per semester.
While the announcement lists this position as on-site, partially remote opportunities may be available.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
Department:
The English Department is one of the largest academic units at UW-Stevens Point. Some 17 faculty offer a full range of classes from first-year composition and humanities general education courses to upper-division literature, writing, and teacher education classes fulfilling the requirements of our major, minors, and certificates. Our commitment to teaching is of primary importance, but department members also manage to engage productively in a variety of scholarly and creative projects. The department also houses the Cornerstone Press, one of the only undergraduate student-staffed publishing houses in the United States.
Compensation & Benefits:
The Associate Lecturer/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer is a part-time, salaried, exempt, academic year (9-month), instructional academic staff position.
Eligible Universities of Wisconsin employees receive an excellent benefits package. To learn more about the benefits package, review the Universities of Wisconsin Employee Benefits Quick Guide for Short-Term Academic Staff.
