Overview:
Brooks Utility Products is America’s oldest electric utility manufacturing company. 2023 marked our 150th year in business. Founded as EJ Brooks & Company, the business eventually incorporated Meter Devices Company and Ekstrom Industries to build the most comprehensive electric utility product line portfolio available. Today, we are the leading utility manufacturer of seals, locking equipment, adapters, meter sockets, meter-base testing equipment, test switches, and utility enclosures. Our product line focuses on utility safety, security, and productivity. In 2022, Brooks became a part of the Madison Industries family, joining companies such as Holmatro, Task Force Tips, Reelcraft, Tyden Brooks, Big Ass Fans, Broan/Nutone, and Seakeeper. Along with the entire Madison family of companies, we are on a mission to make the world safer, healthier, and more productive.
To help support that mission, our Novi plant is a clean, fully air-conditioned, climate-controlled environment that promotes quality work, safety, and productivity year-round.
Brooks is seeking a highly motivated Quality Inspector who performs inspections, checks, tests, and sampling procedures of parts and components in a production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform accurate mechanical, electrical, weld and visual inspections of components, sub-assemblies and finished goods per engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
Maintain quality standards by performing incoming, first-article, in-process, and final inspections and documenting results.
Visually inspect all parts and components to confirm they have been manufactured correctly to ensure they are meeting safety and quality specifications.
Initiate and follow up on Non-Conformances (NCRs) as required.
Assist with material movement as related to non-conforming products.
Multitask effectively in a fast-paced, physically active environment
Perform quality audits as necessary.
Communicate with production personnel, engineers, supervisors and managers to resolve quality issues.
Accurately document inspection and test results.
Evaluate returned goods (RMAs) and update ERP records.
Assist with supplier approvals (PPAP/FAI) as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Ability to read engineering drawings, product material sheets, bill of material, and other documents.
