Full job description

Truliant’s mission is to improve lives by putting our members first, providing great service and straightforward financial solutions. Our core values of Member Focus, Service, Guidance, Relationships, and Community define how we interact with members to fulfill our mission of improving lives and providing a foundation on which we conduct ourselves.

Our Promise to Our Teammates: Truliant strives to provide all teammates with an enjoyable place to work where they feel valued, empowered and rewarded for all that they do.

This position is remote within our NC, SC, VA footprint. Although this position is primarily remote, there are occasional events and meetings that may require you to work on-site at one of our Truliant locations.

Purpose of the Job

The Workday Platform System Administrator is responsible for technical administration, platform oversight (including standards for security/access controls, change management, integrations, and release readiness), and configuration oversight of the credit union’s Workday platform. This role serves as the primary IT steward of Workday, ensuring the platform operates securely, efficiently, and in alignment with enterprise architecture standards and regulatory requirements.

The position partners closely with the Workday Product Owner and functional administrators in Human Resources, Finance, Organizational Development, Accounting, Purchasing, and other business units to support system configuration, maintain platform integrity, and enable new capabilities across the organization. As Workday expands to support additional functions such as vendor management, Contracts, Workday AI, and analytics, this role ensures the platform remains scalable, compliant, and well-governed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary technical administrator for the Workday platform, acting as the central IT point of accountability for platform stability, system health, and technical configuration. Partners closely with Workday Developers, Business Analysts, and Cyber Security to ensure aligned delivery, secure operations, and adherence to enterprise standards.
  • Maintains configuration standards and consistent naming conventions across the system to ensure clarity, scalability, and long-term maintainability of the Workday tenant as functionality expands across modules and business units.
  • Manages Workday tenant environments, including production, sandbox, and implementation tenants, ensuring appropriate separation of duties, controlled access, and readiness for testing, releases, and large-scale initiatives.
  • Evaluates and implements configuration changes with a cross module and enterprise mindset, ensuring changes align with Workday best practices, minimize downstream impacts, and support consistent user experiences across functional areas.
  • Documents system configurations, business processes, and tenant procedures to support operational continuity, knowledge transfer, audit requirements, and effective onboarding of new administrators and partners.
  • Ensures SSO consistency across the platform.
  • Ensures segregation of duties configurations meet financial and regulatory requirements, proactively identifying and mitigating potential conflicts in collaboration with Risk, Compliance, and Cyber Security teams.
  • Supports periodic user access reviews and audit inquiries, providing timely evidence, documentation, and remediation plans as needed to satisfy internal and external audit requirements.
  • Collaborates with Risk, Compliance, and Cyber Security stakeholders to maintain strong system controls, monitor control effectiveness, and ensure Workday configurations align with evolving regulatory expectations.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation to support regulatory examinations and audits, including system architecture, security design, configuration decisions, and change history.
  • Manages the review, testing, and documentation of Workday releases and updates, assessing impacts on existing configurations, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring readiness prior to deployment.
  • Coordinates change management activities for platform enhancements and configuration updates, including release planning, stakeholder communication, risk evaluation, and post‑implementation validation.
  • Oversees integrations between Workday and internal or external systems, ensuring integrations are reliable, secure, properly monitored, and aligned with enterprise integration architecture standards.
  • Supports data integration processes using Workday tools such as EIBs, APIs, and middleware platforms by troubleshooting issues, monitoring data flows, and ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Serves as a technical advisor to the Workday Product Owner and functional administrators, providing guidance on platform capabilities, design options, limitations, and long-term implications of configuration decisions.
  • Translates business requirements into scalable, compliant Workday configurations, balancing operational efficiency with platform operations, security, and regulatory expectations—particularly for new modules or expanded use cases.
  • Supports enterprise reporting and analytics needs, partnering with stakeholders to ensure data integrity, optimal data sources, and accurate reporting across Workday domains.
  • Collaborates with cross functional stakeholders to enable data driven decision making, helping define reporting standards, validate metrics, and promote consistent and trusted use of Workday data.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must understand Workday security concepts (security groups, domains, business process security policies, and constrained access) and ability to apply least-privilege principles.
  • Must have working knowledge of Workday release management practices (biannual releases, impact analysis, and regression testing concepts).
  • Must have working knowledge of Workday integration concepts and methods (EIB, Core Connector, REST/SOAP APIs) and their operational impacts.
  • Must have knowledge of identity and access fundamentals for SaaS platforms (SSO, MFA, provisioning/deprovisioning lifecycle concepts).
  • Must understand operating in regulated and audit-focused environments, including access reviews and segregation-of-duties concepts.
  • Must have the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills to analyze and resolve issues across tenant configuration, security, integrations, and reporting impacts.
  • Must have strong documentation skills, including configuration decisions, security changes, audit evidence, and operational runbooks/standard operating procedures.
  • Must adhere to, and enforce, IT service management and change frameworks (e.g., ITIL) as applied to SaaS platforms.
  • Must have strong analytical and data validation skills to support data integrity, reporting, and metrics consistency.
  • Must have effective stakeholder management skills, including expectation-setting and risk communication.
  • Must have the ability to balance platform operations with operational agility to deliver maximum ROI.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent requests (break/fix, enhancements, release work, and compliance needs) with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to plan and coordinate SaaS release readiness activities, including test coordination and deployment readiness.
  • Must have a security-first mindset and the ability to identify, communicate, and mitigate access and configuration risks.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer.
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.

Education and Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience administering, supporting, or architecting the Workday platform in an enterprise IT environment required.
  • Workday Pro Platform Administrator Certification required.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one full Workday implementation or major deployment, including tenant setup, security model design, integrations, and post go live stabilization required.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as the platform-level administrator for Workday, with responsibility beyond a single functional area (e.g., HCM, Financials, Spend, Learning, Analytics) required.
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise SaaS platforms in a regulated environment, including audit support, access reviews, and compliance documentation required.
  • Strong experience coordinating across IT, Security, Risk, Compliance, and functional business teams to enforce platform standards required.
  • Experience managing or supporting Workday integrations using EIBs, APIs, middleware, or integration frameworks, including troubleshooting cross-system issues required.
  • Experience evaluating Workday releases, assessing enterprise impact, coordinating testing, and supporting controlled change management required.
  • Workday Certifications in integrations preferred.
  • Experience supporting Workday Human Capital Management and Workday Financial & Spend Management modules in a shared services or IT led model preferred.
  • Experience acting as a technical lead or advisor on Workday initiatives, enhancements, or roadmap planning preferred.
