Trinity Grading, Inc. is a leading heavy civil earthwork contractor specializing in mass grading, site development, and excavation. We are seeking an experienced Grade Checker to join our field operations team.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, and has a strong understanding of grading plans, elevations, and earthmoving operations. If you're committed to safety, accuracy, and quality workmanship, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret grading plans, staking layouts, and construction drawings.
  • Verify grades, elevations, slopes, and offsets throughout all phases of earthwork operations.
  • Work closely with foremen, equipment operators, and survey crews to ensure grading is completed to project specifications.
  • Set and maintain grade stakes and reference points as needed.
  • Use laser levels, GPS equipment, and other grade-checking tools to confirm accuracy.
  • Monitor cut/fill operations and communicate grade adjustments to equipment operators.
  • Identify and report discrepancies in plans or field conditions.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Grade Checker on earthwork or mass grading projects.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret grading plans and civil drawings.
  • Knowledge of cut/fill calculations, slopes, elevations, and grade tolerances.
  • Experience using construction lasers, GPS grade-checking equipment, and surveying instruments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
  • Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with GPS machine control systems such as Trimble, Topcon, or Leica.
  • Knowledge of heavy earthmoving operations and equipment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience on commercial, residential, or public works grading projects.

During the mid 90’s Tim moved to Washington State with his family for a year and worked for a large heavy commercial construction company putting in highways and working on airports. 1990s-2000s Transition to Full Service: Missing the California sun, Tim moved back to work with his dad and brother to expand operations. As the business climate evolved, Tim used his knowledge of the industry and his experience in estimating to form Trinity Grading, Inc. 2000s Expansion: Helping clients complete challenging projects through a vision of offering undeniable dedication and excellence, Trinity Grading adapts to the needs of the market in order to provide clients with exactly what they want.
