The Demand Planner supports the monthly S&OP process by analyzing sales data, forecasts, and inventory levels to align production with customer demand. They are responsible for maintaining planning files, generating production suggestions, and collaborating across departments to optimize supply chain efficiency.

Requirements

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field and 2-3 years of experience in demand or production planning. Proficiency in advanced Excel and experience with ERP systems are required.

Full job description

The Demand Planner is responsible for supporting the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to ensure alignment between Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Production, and Supply Chain.This role analyzes open orders, historical sales, forecast data, and inventory levels to drive production planning, optimize inventory, and support customer service objectives.The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with large data sets while collaborating across multiple departments to support business objectives.Key Responsibilities
  • Support the monthly S&OP process from data collection through the consensus meeting
  • Plan demand by analyzing historical sales, open orders and customer forecasts.
  • Support quarterly forecast review process with the commercial team.
  • Consolidate forecast updates received from Sales and customers.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for the Sales Review and Consensus meetings.
  • Document decisions, assumptions, and action items from S&OP meetings.
  • Ensure all planning files and reports are updated and backed up according to schedule.
  • Enter and maintain Firm Planned Orders in Microsoft Dynamics NAV as required.
  • Generate weekly Packout Suggestions
  • Generate Shopping Lists to support production scheduling.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages and excess inventory.
  • Support allocation decisions during periods of limited supply.
  • Confirm estimated arrival dates (ETAs) for traded purchase orders.
  • Inform Customer Service of planning updates affecting customer orders.
  • Support Sales by communicating inventory shortages, allocation requirements, and forecast changes.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to ensure material availability aligns with demand plans.
  • Maintain planning reports and planning databases.
  • Develop and improve forecasting models and planning tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, reporting, and data quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–3 years of experience in Demand Planning, Production Planning, Supply Chain, Inventory Management, or a related role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Power Query, formulas, charts).
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Leadership.
