Perform routine and emergency echocardiograms for adult and pediatric patients, including 2D, 3D, Doppler, and stress tests. Responsible for preparing preliminary reports for cardiologists and maintaining equipment and operational logs.
Requires a two-year allied health degree, completion of an approved ultrasound technology program, and at least two years of experience. ARDMS certification is preferred.
Demonstrates proficiency by performing routine and emergency echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2‐dimensional, 3‐dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiograms, as requested by a physician and in accordance with standard practices. Provides echocardiography service at all necessary locations, working variable shifts, weekends, and providing emergent call coverage as scheduled.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within this field. Ability to use independent judgement to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed. Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and the patient’s needs. Able to follow established departmental procedures. Able to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
