Graduate student in good academic and program standing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong written and oral communication skills. Willingness to learn and troubleshoot problems. The ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and work independently. Commitment to providing the best experience and services possible to students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The student services graduate assistant in LSC works under the supervision of the academic advising manager to support student services and administrative duties in the department. The responsibilities of this role are broad and provide interested students with a diverse perspective on roles and work in higher education roles. This is a great position for folks interested in careers related to advising and higher education but students in any graduate program outside of the department are encouraged to apply!
A sample of some areas this position will support include: ● Advising and recruitment ○ Directly advise prospective and currently declared students in the undergraduate programs. Represent the department at major exploration events and course presentations. ○ Help manage LSC LinkedIn group for current students and alumni and an alumni database ● Event organization ○ Help plan and execute department events such as the annual scholarship reception, graduation receptions, and orientations. ● General administrative support ○ Support office organization, key and equipment check-out, serve as the face of the department and assist various stakeholder in navigating to the right contact. ● Other duties as assigned
