The Shop Crane Technician is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of mobile cranes and boom trucks. The role requires working in a shop environment while adhering to strict safety and health procedures.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of experience as a crane mechanic. Proficiency in reading electrical and hydraulic schematics and the ability to obtain AWS D1.1 welding certification are preferred.
MGX Shop Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position will be located at the Baton Rouge, LA branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Service Manager.
HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
This is a full-time position with typical 1st shift hours. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.

This position will be required to work in an environment with exposure to elements such as extreme temperatures and various weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. While performing the duties of this job, the employees is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. There is frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
PAY & TRAINING:
This position offers a pay range between $23.00 - $50.00 per hour depending on skills and qualifications for non-bargaining employees. Pay is provided on a bi-weekly basis and there are 14 days in the pay period, beginning on a Monday and ending on a Sunday.
A customized training plan and career path is identified for each technician and provided within the first week of employment, outlining growth and advancement opportunities.
