About Us
Tew & Taylor has been a trusted name in building code inspections and plan review services since 2008. Our mission is to provide expert services with a strong emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and exceptional customer service. With an expanding presence across Florida, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Permit Technician to support a high volume of permit submittals each week, based in our West Palm Beach office.

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Permit Technician to manage a high weekly volume of permit submittals across Florida jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have strong Florida permitting experience across a wide service area, sharp organizational skills, and the ability to move a large number of applications through many different building departments accurately and efficiently. Candidates who have worked in high-volume, multi-jurisdiction environments, such as a windows and doors company, roofing contractor, or any operation with a large statewide service area, are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, submit, and track a high volume of permit applications with local and state agencies each week.
  • Manage submittals through Miami-Dade County and other South Florida building department portals.
  • Review permit requirements to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Respond to comments and corrections, and resolve deficiencies to keep applications moving toward approval.
  • Maintain detailed records of permits, approvals, and related documentation.
  • Communicate with municipal departments and regulatory agencies to resolve permitting issues.
  • Assist project managers and clients in navigating the permitting process.
  • Coordinate documentation, plans, and supporting materials to ensure complete, first-pass submittals.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Previous experience in Florida permitting required, ideally across multiple jurisdictions and a large service area.
  • Experience in a high-volume permitting environment, such as a windows and doors company, contractor, or firm serving many municipalities, is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with municipal and county permitting portals and submittal processes.
  • Strong knowledge of local and state permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle a large, steady volume of submittals accurately.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, including persistent follow-up with building departments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
  • Direct experience submitting through the permitting systems used by each of the building departments within Miami-Dade County.
  • Knowledge of basic Florida Building Code and permitting requirements.
  • Experience with private provider workflows and permitting.
Location & Flexibility
This role is available as an in-person position in West Palm Beach.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Annual performance bonus.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, PTO, and retirement plans.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
  • A dynamic and collaborative work environment.

Tew & Taylor is a licensed private provider operating under Florida Statute 553.791. The statute creates a regulated alternative to municipal plan review and inspection, with real advantages for the projects that use it: Faster permit issuance, on a 20 day timeline the statute requires the building department to meet. Reduced permit fees, set by the statute rather than negotiated. Predictable inspection scheduling, built around the project rather than a municipal rotation. We handle the plan review and inspection work that makes those advantages available. Our team includes licensed plan reviewers and field inspectors with decades of combined experience across Florida jurisdictions, including the coastal wind load zones, flood zones, and local code amendments that tend to create friction in municipal review. We serve developers, general contractors, design professionals, homeowners, and single-trade contractors. Commercial, residential, and everything in between. Our goal on every project is to make permitting the smoothest part of the job. For project inquiries, reach out through our website or by direct message here.
