The Mortgage Underwriter III is responsible for rendering final approval or denial decisions on mortgage loan applications based on capacity, credit, capital, and collateral. They must ensure all files are compliant with company policy, investor guidelines, and federal regulations while educating loan officers on underwriting rules.
Candidates should ideally have a bachelor's degree and over 10 years of underwriting experience, including certifications for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA DE, and VA LAPP/SAR. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of specialty lending areas like Jumbo or Construction loans is preferred.

Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Mortgage Underwriter III.
The Mortgage Underwriter III renders a final decision (e.g., approval, disapproval, approval with conditions) for mortgage loan applications in a timely, accurate and compliant manner. This position reviews loan applications based on factors such as capacity, credit history, capital, and collateral in compliance with company policy, contracts, investor guidelines, lending programs and state and federal laws and regulations.
Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.
The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Employees may spend extended periods sitting or standing, using hands to operate computers or other equipment, and reaching for work-related tasks. Regular walking may be required, along with occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing. The role may involve lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
