A high school diploma or GED is required, with relevant restaurant or hotel experience preferred. Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for entire shifts.

Job Description Summary
The Steward sets the tone for Sonesta’s mission by always going above and beyond for our guests and coworkers. The role’s responsibility is to clean, sanitize, transport and store pots and pans, China, glassware, silverware and other equipment to be used in the Food and Beverage department. The Steward is also responsible maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, storage areas, dumpster area and back dock area according to established safety and sanitation guidelines.Job Description
Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:
• Operate dish machine, clean and sanitize pots and pans, china, glassware, flatware, kitchen equipment and other utensils.
• Store all clean pots and pans, china, glassware, flatware, kitchen equipment and other utensils to its proper storage location using care to minimize breakage.
• Clean and sanitize the kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Sweep and mop all kitchen floors and other assigned areas.
• Collect and properly dispose of trash.
• Service food for the Employee Cafeteria as specified by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
• Adhere to established safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Adhere to uniform and grooming standards.
• Perform other duties or projects as requested by management.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
• Display daily professional, courteous, attentive, helpful, and positive attitude towards all guests, fellow employees, and managers.
• Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team to reach common goals.
• Perform other job duties as requested by supervisors/managers as other job duties may be assigned as needed.
• Understanding Sonesta’s company and safety policies and maintain compliance with OSHA and the health department requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Ability to provide and maintain a valid driver’s license as the position may require the operation of motorized and electric vehicles.
• Reading and writing abilities to understand departmental correspondence and complete all required departmental documents.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including dealing with difficult guests.
• Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Education and Experience:
• Highschool diploma or GED required.
• Relevant experience in restaurant or hotel preferred.
Work Environment:
• Must be able work in a fast-paced environment.
• Most of the work takes place indoors.
• Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures - i.e., freezers, loading dock.
Physical Demands:
• Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and stooping. Climb ladders of various heights
• Ability to stand entire shift.
• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Expected Hours of Work:
• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
• Must be flexible to work various days and various shifts of the week to include weekends, holidays, days, nights and overnight.
• Regular attendance in conformance with the standards which have been established by the hotel from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position.

• No travel required.

$28.14-$32.77 - Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills, and job specific/overall experience.
