SMS Equipment is looking for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to lead the vendor-facing Accounts Payable function within our Finance team. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role is responsible for overseeing vendor payments, inquiries, and reconciliations while ensuring accurate, timely processing and strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Work Location: Acheson, AB. Salary: $68,000 to $75,000 per annum. Work Arrangement: Hybrid – providing the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week. Schedule: Monday - Friday
What You'll Do:
Lead and support a team of Accounts Payable staff, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and performance management.
Foster a positive, professional team environment while driving employee development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the AP subledger, including reconciling to the general ledger and investigating variances.
Analyze aged payables, vendor activity, and account discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate processing.
Review and approve payment batches across multiple currencies, ensuring accuracy and alignment with cash flow priorities.
Oversee vendor master data, including approvals, banking changes, and adherence to internal controls and compliance requirements.
Ensure timely and professional resolution of vendor and internal inquiries while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships.
Lead vendor reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate resolution of issues related to invoices, payments, and purchase orders.
Monitor outstanding invoices, credits, and refunds to ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
What You Bring:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in a high-volume Accounts Payable environment, along with demonstrated experience leading or supervising a team. You bring strong analytical skills and experience working with ERP systems that include modules such as GL, AP, and Inventory.
Other requirements include:
Experience managing large volumes of invoices and transactions.
Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
