The candidate must reside within the following county(s) within Region 8: Bexar County or the direct surrounding areas.

PRIMARY FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILTY

Wendy’s Wonderful Kids (WWK) Supervisor will have knowledge of program planning and implementation, agency policies, procedures, and regulations as well as laws and regulations for childcare, abuse, and neglect. WWK Supervisor will establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees they supervise as well as peers and others within the organization and show high level skills in effective verbal and written communication. WWK Supervisor will be able to negotiate available services; gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; prepare clear and concise reports; develop and analyze special projects; supervise the work of others and travel locally as well as within the region, as necessary. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and assist direct reports who administer the child focused recruitment model that identifies and supports the matching of children with prospective adoptive families, including providing information during adoption staffing.
  • Ensures staff accountability and fidelity to the eight components of the child focused recruitment model by approving monthly database submissions. 
  • Manage WWK recruiter workloads and assign cases that are referred to WWK program.
  • Will staff cases with direct reports on a regular, ongoing basis. 
  • Ensure sufficient case documentation, including forms and narratives, is maintained to provide a complete and accurate written record. 
  • Build and maintain communication and working relationships within the program, region, courts, and community groups to ensure that the objectives of the agency are accomplished. 
  • Maintains a collaborative working relationship with Assigned Program Manager from Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption (DTFA) to maintain accurate data and fidelity to the model. 
  • Ensures the recruiter builds a network with people close to and knowledgeable about the child, such as relatives, foster parents, case workers, CASA volunteers, teachers, mentors, faith-based representatives, etc. and ensures the recruiters maintain regular and on-going contact with the child’s network.  
  • Reviews and supports development of a comprehensive recruitment plan or enhances the existing recruitment plan. The plan shall be based on file review, interviews with significant adults, and the input of the child. The plan will be customized and defined by each child’s needs. The plan will be reviewed at minimum monthly and updated quarterly.  
  • Conducts assessments of current life situations of child or children and families to determine the presence of child abuse and neglect. 
  • May compose reports for court and testify in court when necessary. 
  • Completes and submits required bi-annual reports to DTFA. 
  • Provides services after normal working hours and on weekends when necessary. 
  • Ensure 24-hour, on-call support is provided for caregivers. Provides crisis intervention as required. 
  • Manage training plans required by SJRC and Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption for newly hired WWK recruitment staff.
  • Attend required DTFA Child Focused recruitment training in person in Dublin, Ohio when scheduled.
  • Attend annually the WWK Child Focused Recruitment Summit in person in Columbus, Ohio. 
  • Responsible for scheduling of staff and approving time off, to include approval of staff overtime. 
  • Responsible for approval of staff travel request and accommodations. 
  • Approves budget for their unit.
  • Travel is required for this position, up to 95% of the work week.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Child Welfare or related field. 
  • 4 years full time child placing experience.

Preferred: 

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Child Welfare or related field. 
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience in the administration of a Permanency Services program or the equivalent.
  • Licensure of LMSW.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: 

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, ability to provide own transportation and proof of current automobile insurance. 
  • Trainings/Licensure/Certifications as required by SJRC Texas/Belong. 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION

  • Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, and walk briskly in order to interact with and monitor children. 
  • Stamina to work long days and drive long distances. 
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 60 pounds. 
  • Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. 
  • Environment requires dexterity to remain calm and adapt to fast paced and emotional environments consisting of children with moderate to severe emotional and psychological needs. 
  • Home-like settings with varying moderate to high degrees of background noise.  
  • Campuses are smoke-free, except on permitted campuses in designated areas.
