How you’ll make an impact:

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be a senior technical leader on the Audience Insights team, building the systems that power realtime audience augmentation, identity-aware targeting, contextual/content analysis, and large-scale batch data processing across the AdsWizz advertising platform. You will help guide architecture and design across low-latency services, high-throughput data stores, event-driven workflows, and batch enrichment pipelines, partnering with other senior technical leaders to improve performance, reliability, privacy, and operational excellence.

What you’ll do:

• Design and build high-performance audience intelligence systems that support realtime ad targeting, augmentation, and activation across the AdsWizz platform.

• Evolve low-latency services, APIs, protocols, and data access layers backed by high-throughput stores such as Aerospike.

• Lead architecture for batch and streaming data workflows using technologies such as Kafka/MSK, SQS, S3, Parquet, PySpark, Go, Rust, and C++.

• Translate privacy, consent, and governance requirements into robust engineering designs for safe handling of listener identity and audience data.

• Partner with product, data, operations, and infrastructure teams to align technical architecture with business goals and production reliability.

• Work with various teams of engineers building software in a collaborative development process.

• Execute tasks with utmost clarity and precision, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and providing clear direction to drive projects forward effectively.

• Collaborate with the Product team to clarify the scope of the projects by giving thoughtful feedback which challenges and clarifies requirements intent.

• Collaborate with the Global Operations and Cloud Infrastructure teams to ensure flawless production deployments and support the Incident Management team.

• Responsible for conducting technical interviews as needed, ensuring a consistently high bar for engineering excellence and performance standards.

• Responsible for mentoring/growing junior engineers

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Mathematics or a similar field.

• Strong understanding of engineering software processes, lifecycle methodology, configuration management, release management, and system verification and testing.

• Ability to work independently and oversee entire projects or significant parts, focusing on completing the tasks on time.

• Proven ability to research and become proficient in new technologies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to continuous improvement.

• Proficiency in constructing detailed software architecture diagrams

• Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels. 

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience; 3+ years in senior/principal IC roles

• 6+ years of software engineering experience in C++/ Python/ Rust/ Go programming language

• 4+ years of experience microservices development supporting scalable products, utilizing diverse cloud platforms (ideally AWS)

Mandatory technical expertise in the following areas:

• Experience building and operating low-latency, high-throughput backend systems in production.

• Strong programming experience in one or more of C++, Go, Rust, or Python, with ability to work across languages.

• Experience with distributed datastores or key-value stores such as Aerospike, DynamoDB, Redis, or similar.

• Experience with event-driven or message-based systems such as Kafka/MSK, SQS/SNS, ZeroMQ, or similar.

• Experience with batch data processing patterns using S3, Parquet, Spark/PySpark, Athena/Glue, or similar technologies.

• Production experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure-as-code.

• Strong architecture, mentoring, and cross-team technical leadership skills.

We consider a plus having relevant expertise in any of the following areas:

• Experience with ad tech, audience targeting, identity resolution, consent/privacy-aware data systems, or contextual targeting.

• Experience with protobuf/gRPC, high-performance C++ services, or Rust/Go service development.

• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK/OpenSearch, or similar.

• Experience using AI coding assistants thoughtfully in software development workflows.
