About Our Role

Simplot are seeking highly motivated candidates for casual opportunities in the role of Production Forklift Operator at our Devonport based food processing facility. Since opening in 1942, our Devonport site has a proud history in the local community. The site processes freshly harvested Tasmanian vegetables including peas, beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts & onions, transforming these into snap frozen products that Australians have enjoyed for generations. The close proximity to our growers ensures our products are processed directly from the paddock.

These factory roles will involve safe operations of electric and gas forklifts across a variety of day / afternoon / night shifts during our Mon-Sun operations, 8 hour shifts.

Day shift 0645 - 1445hrs
Afternoon shift 1445 - 2245hrs
Night shift 2245 - 0645hrs

What You Will Do

Production Operator roles that includes fork duties but not limited to;

• Safely transport processed product between our production areas / freezers / cool stores
• Use of fork mounted RF systems + radio communications
• Operate within our cold store / freezer stacking the bins of frozen product to a level of 7 racks high and 2 bins deep (reach truck operators only)
• Perform pre-start checks on forklift equipment
• Changing of & charging spent batteries (for electric forklifts)
• Adhere to site safety and operational policies whilst contributing to continuous improvement within our processes

About You

• Possess a 100% commitment to safety in the workplace
• A current LF forklift licence and demonstrated operating experience (mandatory)
• Ability to work a variety of 8 hour shifts day / afternoon / night across a 7 day roster
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures
• Possess a high attention to detail
• Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills, in addition to time management skills and the ability to work to production schedules
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Possess positive communication skills
• Ability to undertake aptitude testing as part of the recruitment process
• Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
