The role involves managing monthly reporting, GST preparation, and annual financial statements for schools and not-for-profit organizations. Additionally, the accountant will provide Xero support to help clients gain financial clarity and confidence.
Candidates should have a degree in accounting or equivalent experience with at least three years of public practice experience. An intermediate level of expertise and a genuine interest in the education and not-for-profit sectors are preferred.

Openbook Solutions is a chartered accountancy firm specialising in the school and not-for-profit sectors. They're looking for a Part Time Accountant to join their small, friendly team to assist the organisations they support to gain financial clarity and confidence.
This is a varied, hands-on role. Day to day, you'll be across monthly reporting, GST preparation, annual financial statements and Xero support. They are looking for someone with a positive attitude, who is a team player and has the ability to grasp new concepts quickly. You'll need to be organised and accurate, comfortable working independently, and confident in managing your own workload, while staying connected to a collaborative team.
You'll ideally be at an intermediate level with a degree in the field (or be qualified by experience), and at least three years public practice experience. Exposure to school accounting is a bonus, and a genuine interest in the not-for-profit and education sectors will go a long way.
This is a part time role, Tuesday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.30pm, based in Palmerston North.
