KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Description
Operational:
Analysis of Qatar Steel Group Occupational Health needs and provide recommendations that support the development of an effective Occupational Health (OH) service.
Promote health of Qatar Steel Group employees by providing occupational health initiatives such as educational trainings to employees in support of a company-wide healthy workforce.
Review pre-employment medical check-up reports and advise business on fitness to work for potential employees.
Clinical Governance:
Promote highest clinical standards in the delivery of occupational healthcare.
Participate in the teaching and clinical supervision of the Occupational Health nursing team.
Participate in regular audit of clinical activity and effectiveness to aid the improvement and expansion of the Occupational Health service.
Engage in continuous professional development and support that of the wider OH team.
Clinical:
Provide high quality occupational health services to Qatar steel staff.
Maintain client confidentiality and respond to medical problems presented by clients through history taking, examination and appropriate sign posting/referral for continued care as needed.
Recognize and provide appropriate advice and care in the event of urgent or emergency conditions in line with agreed protocols and/or best practice guidelines.
Provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care advice to clients.
Have accurate and up-to-date knowledge of medications, doses, drug interactions and potential side effects.
Be responsible for appropriate prescribing where needed in accordance with national prescribing guidelines
Perform pre-employment medical examinations.
Advise on the occupational health implications of existing medical conditions.
Actively communicate and coordinate care of clients with colleagues, specialist services and allied health professionals as required to ensure best quality of care is delivered to staff.
Additional Accountabilities:
Report incidences and near misses in line with practice policy.
Practice duty of care including meeting practice standards and accountability.
Maintain patient and practice confidentiality at all times.
Work to the highest professional and ethical standard.
Maintain registration with QCHP/DHP.
Medical Services:
To plan, prepare, manage and periodical review of Occupational Health Services (OHS) offered in Qatar Steel.
Oversee, guide, administer and update Primary Healthcare facilities available under OHS, in order to optimize functioning of the Clinic.
Formulate, Medical Emergency Preparedness plan and to arrange for Emergency Medical Services.
Organize and conduct Pre-employment and Periodical Medical Examination. Subsequent compilation, analysis, interpretation of these clinical data and act, advise or recommend accordingly.
Conduct studies with regards to the Industrial Hygiene monitoring data/ reports pertaining to various health hazards present at the work place and conduct of awareness programs and suggest appropriate measures (if any) for mitigation of the results from the studies.
Liaise with neighboring industries and professional interactions with competent authorities and medical institutions.
Team Supervision
Provide guidance and on the job training for junior colleagues and conduct knowledge sharing to facilitate achievement of team objectives and completion of tasks in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy.
Facilitate Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of the staff.
Budgeting and Financial Performance
Preparing the necessary budgetary allocations for carrying out various Healthcare activities and draw future development plans.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Provide inputs and implement policies, systems, and procedure for the assigned team so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Assume responsibilities for those aspects of the HSE management systems over which falls within the scope of the medical services.
Continual Improvement
Participate in the identification of opportunities for continual improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Reporting
Prepare weekly reports on the activities undertaken at the medical services facility.
Prepare/make annual individual objectives in line with the Department/Section Performance Measures and Corporate Strategic Objective, plan and implement initiatives, report individual objective performance measurement results and achievements.
Quality, Health, Safety & Environment
Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
Related Assignments
Perform other related duties or assignments as directed by the Head- Medical Services.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS/MBCHB) from a reputable university.
Occupational Medicine/Industrial Health Certification (desired)
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience in the integrated steel plant/oil and gas industry/Military settings or equivalent.

Excellent use of the English (must).
Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
Experience in Occupational Medicine
Experience of working within a multicultural environment
