PTI Engineered Plastics is seeking a skilled and motivated Metrology CMM Programmer to join our busy Metrology department. This role is responsible for programming and operating CMM equipment, performing detailed inspections, and testing molded parts and components to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards. Administrator for Calibration /To assist with part layout and inspection / documentation in all phases of Metrology Lab Activities.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of experience in metrology or quality inspection, strong proficiency in CMM programming and measurement techniques, and a solid understanding of GD&T. This individual will play a key role in maintaining product quality, supporting production, and mentoring team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive PPAP submissions, IQ/OQ/PQ, capability studies, rechecks, and partial layouts
Be the technical backstop when a dimension doesn't meet print — know when to recheck, when to try another method, and when NOT to touch tool steel
Mentor and build up the rest of the lab team - as we grow their skills too
Program and operate CMM equipment to support inspection and production needs
Perform dimensional inspections and testing of molded parts and components
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications
Analyze inspection data and communicate results to cross-functional teams
Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Work as a team, providing excellent communication to all levels of employees
Qualifications:
Real CMM programming (PC-DMIS or equivalent) and command of GD&T, ability to read a blue print
The instinct to move fast without cutting corners — we're at the end of the line, and the clock is always running
The judgment to know when a problem needs escalation versus a quick fix
