The technologist is responsible for the end-to-end product development process, from market research and material sourcing to factory trials and product launches. They also manage the upgrading of existing products and ensure effective communication with internal departments and suppliers.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Food Science or a related discipline. Ideally, applicants should have 2-3 years of experience in food production and a strong understanding of thermal processing and food safety.

Job Purpose
Responsible for the developmental processes of a product from market research until launch. This includes researching new opportunities, developing products, sourcing new materials, analysing shelf life of product, drawing up packaging brief for product, liaising with suppliers and organising product launch. upgrading of existing products.
Key Responsibilities
•Developing of new products for existing and new ranges for the long-life division.
•Upgrading of existing products.
•Conducting factory trials.
•Identifying appropriate raw materials and suppliers.
•Liaising effectively with our customers and suppliers.
•Communicating effectively with internal departments.
A preparedness to work extended hours and traveling, when necessary, will be essential
Experience and Qualifications
•Bachelors Degree/Advanced Diploma/NQF level 7 in Food Science or related discipline
•Ideally 2-3 years experience in food production
Skills and Competencies
•Experience in product development and or canning will be an advantage.
•An assertive, team spirited, proactive and hands-on approach.
•Very good communication skills.
•Excellent planning and organizing skills.
•Understanding of thermal processing.
•Understanding of food safety principles.
