The Environmental Project Manager leads environmental cleanup, brownfield redevelopment, and permitting processes for capital land use and development initiatives. The role ensures regulatory compliance and manages environmental risks while advancing the port's sustainability and stewardship goals.
Requires an undergraduate or advanced degree in environmental sciences, biology, geology, or a related field with at least seven years of progressive experience in permitting and remediation. Candidates must have deep knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and a valid driver's license.

The Environmental Project Manager provides technical expertise and manages environmental projects related to remediation, permitting, compliance, and sustainability initiatives. Working with internal staff, regulatory agencies, consultants, and stakeholders, this position supports project development and delivery, ensures environmental compliance, manages environmental risks, and advances the port’s environmental stewardship goals.

Qualifications:
Education: Undergraduate degree or advanced degree in environmental sciences, biology, geology, or related technical field required.
Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive work experience in permitting, environmental regulations, environmental remediation, storm water protection, hazardous materials management, and natural resources management. Knowledge and work history involving local, state, and federal environmental regulations pertinent to the port industry, such as cultural resources, SEPA, MTCA, CERCLA, SMA, CWA, CAA, NEPA, ESA, etc. required.

Communication Skills: Able to communicate clearly and succinctly in writing and verbally. Able to maintain confidentiality and ensure accurate exchange of information. Ability to read, write, understand and communicate clearly in English. Able to develop and deliver formal presentations in a variety of settings to individuals, small or large groups.
Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Able to balance short- and long‑term priorities effectively while handling numerous, shifting, and often competing demands. Strong ability to track detailed information and maintain accurate records.
Analytical Skills: Able to gather relevant data from appropriate sources; identify all relevant factors or restrictions; apply logical reasoning to determine relationship of variables; develop results-oriented conclusions; test assumptions, observe results, and incorporate revisions or corrections.
Problem Solving Skills: Ability to logically think through and solve problems involving several variables. Able to remain objective in gathering information and investigating issues.
Computer Skills: Advanced computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project.
