Diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, vehicles, and power generators in remote Arctic environments. Support station infrastructure including plumbing, heating, and structural systems to ensure continuous scientific research operations.
Requires a high school diploma and at least 5 years of experience in heavy equipment or diesel machinery repair. Must possess a valid driver's license, a U.S. passport, and the ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
Polar Field Services (PFS) is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician / Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support scientific research operations in some of the world's most remote locations. This position rotates between Toolik Field Station in Alaska, Fairbanks operations, and Summit Station in Greenland, maintaining vehicles, heavy equipment, generators, and station facilities that keep Arctic research moving.
This is a seasonal position supporting operations in remote Arctic locations. Employees live and work in shared station environments and should be comfortable with challenging conditions, changing priorities, and extended deployments.
