Position Type / Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a part-time position that works on average less than 20 hours a week. Additional hours may be required. This position is expected to be offsite spending most of the time out in the community. Days and hours will vary based on planned community events. Due to the nature of the position, must be able to work some nights, weekends, holidays based on the needs of the programs; schedule may vary based on agency needs at the discretion of the direct supervisor and/or CEO.

Summary: 

The Community Recreation Aide is responsible for assisting the Community Services Supervisor and Community Services Manager in the overall administration, coordination and reporting for LARC and Senior Programs.

Essential Functions: 

This is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of job functions. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. The employee is required to follow any other instructions, and to perform any other duties, as assigned.

The essential functions of this position include:

  • Assisting in the design and implementation of year-round community-based recreation opportunities for LARC and Senior participants.
  • Participating in and/or leading community activities with members; providing hands-on assistance as needed.
  • Documenting, communicating, and providing information to members about times, travel arrangements, and costs associated with events.
  • Works closely with the Community Services Supervisor in creating and carrying out transportation routes for the LARC program.
  • Verifying that receipts and payments for transportation and/or events are received and turned into the Community Services Supervisor.

Other duties as required or assigned.

Education/Talent Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that is acceptable according to Pioneer Resources’ Policy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize both self and others’ workloads and work with minimal supervision; high degree of selfdirection.
  • Solid reasoning skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong computer skills.

Work Experience Requirements: 

  • Prior experience planning and executing recreation activities for seniors and/or individuals with disabilities a plus; will train the right candidate.

Travel: 

Total travel excepted to be 50-75% while performing community outings; a company vehicle may be supplied. Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% for meetings, trainings and conferences. Total travel expected to be less than 10%. Company vehicle is not supplied for non-outing travel; use of personal vehicle required unless transporting participants.

Work Environment: 

This position works in close proximity to people. While the majority of the work day is spent out in the community, employees in this position may work in an office setting. Employees must be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons for short periods of time e.g. assisting participant’s into a vehicle, taking participants on outings, etc.

Physical Demands of the Job: 

Light work. No more than 20 pounds with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
