About the Role
As a Transmission Line Patroller, you'll play a key role in
helping maintain the safety, reliability, and performance of New Zealand's
transmission network. Working across a varied outdoor environment, you'll be
responsible for inspecting transmission assets, identifying potential risks
before they become issues, and providing accurate information that supports
maintenance planning and network reliability. This role offers a high level of
autonomy while working closely with operational teams, landowners, and
customers to ensure Northpower continues to deliver safe, reliable, and
high-quality services.
Role Responsibilities
You will carry out scheduled transmission line patrols and
inspections, identifying and recording defects relating to structures,
vegetation, access, and third-party activities using Northpower's digital
systems. You'll maintain accurate asset and landowner information, complete
inspection records and compliance documentation, and report findings to support
maintenance prioritisation. The role also includes monitoring access tracks,
supporting landowner liaison activities, participating in audit and continuous
improvement initiatives, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with
health, safety, environmental, regulatory, and customer requirements. You'll
represent Northpower professionally in the field while contributing to a strong
culture of safety, collaboration, and operational excellence.
Experience:
We're looking for someone who has:
-Appropriate transmission qualifications or certifications.
-A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
-Experience working in transmission environments (experience
on Transpower assets is advantageous).
-A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental
compliance.
-Good attention to detail and the ability to accurately
capture field information.
-Strong communication and teamwork skills with a
customer-focused approach.
-The ability to work independently in a fast-paced outdoor
environment.
-Basic computer skills (advantageous).
-Drone operation experience is preferred, although full
training can be provided.
