The Northwest Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the Northwest Region.
This a unique opportunity to join the NWROCU Regional Technical Surveillance Unit (RTSU) to undertake Type E intrusive surveillance operations in high-risk environments to develop intelligence and evidential gathering opportunities in support of serious and organised crime impacting Northwest Regional Forces and the NWROCU.
Candidates must hold the following prerequisite training to be eligible to apply:
- Advanced Driver
- Level 1 Surveillance
- CROPS
The successful applicant will also need to undertake Type E training consisting of 2 x 4 week assessed courses at the College of Policing. They must have a minimum of 5 years’ service remaining to be eligible for the role.
Candidates for this challenging position must be highly motivated and disciplined, work well as part of a team and remain calm under pressure.
Applicants should be aware that SSU tasks can be physically demanding and should be able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, responding at short notice, day or night to time critical operational requirements.
This post will subject to an initial practical suitability assessment.
The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by Serious Organised Crime in Great Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link to National capabilities, enabling the Northwest to deliver the Government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy.
The post is subject to an initial secondment of two years reviewable based on continuous funding and performance.
Successful applicants working within NWROCU will be subject to NCA clearance, MV (Management Vetting) and SC (Security Clearance) prior to taking up post.
In cases where the commute to NWROCU is in excess of applicant’s current commute, excess travel will be paid.
