The News Photographer/Editor is responsible for shooting video for news reports and editing clips for television and eMedia content. This includes operating cameras, managing equipment, and collaborating with the news team to produce cohesive stories.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and at least two years of experience operating video recording and editing equipment. Proficiency in English and the ability to work flexible shifts are required.
Shoots video for news reports
Work with news team to discuss assignments, logistics and shot requirements
Sets up, composes and executes video shots
Shoots and Edits Special Projects
Ability to work on packages with reporters or independently.
Maintains video and editing equipment
Edits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content
Operates live in microwave and satellite trucks for remote situations
Performs other duties as assigned
Organizes and strings together raw footage into a continuous whole according to scripts or instructions for newscasts and other programming
Reviews assembled footage on screens or monitors to determine whether corrections are necessary
Trims filmed segments to specified lengths and reassembles segments into sequences that present stories with maximum effect
Determines the specific audio and visual effects necessary to complete spots
Sets up and operates computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final product
Selects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story
Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, work product and desired effects.
Requirements & Skills:
High school diploma
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Minimum two years’ experience operating video recording and video editing equipment
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
Ability to use Adobe creative suite preferred
Proficiency with video recording and editing equipment
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Flexibility to work any shift
