Community Program Coordinator

Navera Community Connections is seeking a Community Program Coordinator for a permanent part-time ten month position. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children, youth, and families through impactful mental health programming in Saskatoon.

 

Position: Community Program Coordinator
Schedule: 4 days/week (Tues - Fri) 

Hours: 28 hours/week primarily daytime hours (September to June annually)
Location: Hybrid – Navera office, home office, and designated schools in Saskatoon and area

Approximate Start Date: August 24, 2026

What You’ll Do:

The Community Program Coordinator will primarily deliver Navera Community Connections programming for elementary age children and youth in designated schools throughout Saskatoon during the school year. Due to this being a school based program, this position will be temporarily laid off in the summer months. The primary duties and responsibilities are listed below, with the full job description available upon request. Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate to support overall team effectiveness and impact.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver group programs, workshops, and presentations based on community needs.
  2. Prepare and adapt lesson plans and activities using participant feedback and leading research and practice.
  3. Facilitate group programs and workshops at scheduled times, including setup and cleanup of materials and space.
  4. Support program participants and caregivers in a professional manner pre and post group.
  5. Maintain inventory of program materials and supplies, including purchasing and assembling resources.
  6. Collaborate with community partners and contribute to shared initiatives.
  7. Collect data to produce reports that demonstrate program outcomes.

What You Bring:

  • Degree in Social Work or related field (BSW/BISW) and RSW registration.
  • Experience in group development and facilitation to children and youth.
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset.
  • A valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search is required.
  • Core knowledge of theories and practices:
    • Mental health and human development (child, adolescent, adult, lifespan)
    • Family systems and attachment theory
    • Trauma-informed practice
    • Strength-based perspective
    • Crisis intervention and safety planning
    • Knowledge or experience in neurodiversity, substance use and harm reduction, and/or child protection would be an asset.
  • Group facilitation and communication:
    • Applied knowledge of group dynamics and group development
    • Ability to promote healthy interpersonal communication
    • Skills in conflict resolution and managing tension constructively
  • Cultural competence and inclusive practice:
    • Knowledge of the intersectionality of cultural, racial, gender, and socio-economic factors affecting group members.
    • Professional or lived experience with diverse populations and identities.
  • Organizational and technical competencies:
    • Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational, and collaboration skills.
    • Computer skills including MS Office and other software
  • Ethics, boundaries, and professionalism:
    • Ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and community partners.
    • Ability to maintain healthy boundaries with clients.
    • Strong ethical conduct and professional integrity.

Compensation for this position is dependent on education and experience. Benefits include paid time off (4 weeks vacation (prorated), paid sick leave), paid professional membership dues, and regular internal and external supervision.
