About Our Family
We are a warm, welcoming family of four based in New York City, with one of our adult children currently living at home. We lead busy professional lives, splitting time between working from home, the office, and traveling throughout the year, so we're looking for someone who enjoys helping create consistency and calm behind the scenes.
We're looking for a long-term House Manager to become a trusted part of our household. We already have a weekly cleaner, so this role is focused less on routine cleaning and more on creating & maintaining organization, preparing healthy meals, coordinating errands and vendors, managing household projects, and keeping our home running smoothly.
We have several organizational projects we'd love to tackle and are excited to partner with someone who enjoys creating systems, cooking, and bringing lasting order to a busy home. We're especially excited to find someone who takes pride in the thoughtful details that make a home feel truly cared for - from keeping our indoor plants healthy to creating organizational systems that bring lasting ease to our daily lives. We are also looking for help coordinating maintenance and guests at our second home.
If you're looking for a long-term opportunity where you can make a meaningful impact while helping a busy household run smoothly, we'd love to hear from you.
Who You Are / What We’re Looking For
You are an organized, dependable professional who enjoys creating order and helping a household run smoothly. You're someone who naturally notices what needs to be done and takes pride in keeping things organized and moving forward. You genuinely enjoy cooking from scratch and are confident planning and preparing healthy weekly meals, including nutritious lunches and dinners that align with dietary preferences and restrictions.
Beyond your organizational skills, you are someone who genuinely cares about the people you support. You understand that a trusted household professional becomes an important part of a family's daily life — someone who is attentive, thoughtful, and dependable, especially when things don't go as planned. You bring a warm, positive, and steady presence to the home, maintaining your professionalism and optimism even during stressful moments. You are someone who can offer support, anticipate needs, and help create a calm, comfortable environment without needing constant direction.
You enjoy wearing many hats and are comfortable balancing meal preparation, household organization, indoor plant care, errands, vendor coordination, travel logistics, and occasional administrative support. You enjoy creating efficient systems, take ownership of projects, and remain flexible to the family's preferences. You are proactive in determining what is needed in the household, anticipating needs rather than waiting for instructions. You communicate professionally, value discretion, and know when to work independently and when to ask questions. You understand and respect the family’s downtime and work to ensure that it’s not disrupted. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a long-term role with a family who values trust, reliability, initiative, and a genuine sense of care.
Key Responsibilities:
Household Management & Organization:
Overhaul and maintain household organization systems throughout the home.
Complete daily resets to keep the home tidy and prepared for the weekly cleaning service.
Light tidying, including occasional dishes, countertops, and other high-use areas as needed.
Water and care for indoor plants.
Coordinate seasonal clothing, bedding, and décor swaps.
Prepare donations and coordinate drop-offs.
Assist with events and holiday preparation when needed.
Replace light bulbs, batteries, and other simple household maintenance items.
Meal Planning & Prep:
Prepare healthy batch-cooked lunches and dinners for one family member each week.
Plan meals that accommodate a high-protein, low-carb, gluten-free, and low-sugar lifestyle.
Grocery shop in person and online.
Maintain a clean, organized kitchen following meal preparation.
Inventory & Errands:
Restock pantry, refrigerator, and household essentials.
Maintain household supply inventories and shopping lists.
Coordinate returns, dry cleaning, alterations, and gift purchases.
Manage incoming mail, packages, and box breakdown as needed.
Vendor & Property Oversight
Research and coordinate trusted service providers, including hairstylists, seamstresses, ironing services, etc.
Coordinate vendors for larger home improvement projects, including painting, flooring, appliance updates, and other home refresh initiatives as needed.
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects:
Complete periodic deep-cleaning projects, including refrigerators, ovens, closets, pantries, and household filters.
Lead ongoing organization projects throughout the home, creating sustainable systems that support an orderly and efficient household.
Estate Level Oversight
Assist with coordinating maintenance and guests at vacation property.
Coordinate remote oversight with onsite housekeeper, other local caretakers.
Coordinate storm preparation as and when needed.
Assist with purchases for the house and coordinate deliveries with the housekeeper.
Assist with guest booking, stay and turnover.
Administrative & Personal Assistant Support:
Assist with travel planning and logistics.
Coordinate appointments and household scheduling as needed.
Track receipts and household expenses related to purchases made on behalf of the family.
Organizing filing of household documents as needed.
Assist with selling household items, including furniture, as needed.
