 Fleet Maintenance Technician

Pay: $22–$25 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Metro Plumbing, Heating & Air is looking for a dependable Fleet Maintenance Technician to help maintain our fleet of nearly 100 service vehicles.

This position is focused on preventive maintenance and light-to-moderate repairs. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work but wants a consistent weekday schedule without the demands often found in dealerships and large repair shops.

The Big Task

Keep Metro’s service vehicles safe, reliable, and ready for our technicians by completing scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and general repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform oil changes and routine preventive maintenance
• Rotate, repair, and replace tires
• Inspect and replace brakes
• Replace batteries, alternators, and starters
• Replace belts, hoses, filters, and other maintenance items
• Perform minor suspension repairs
• Complete light electrical repairs
• Conduct vehicle safety and DOT inspections
• Diagnose and repair common vehicle issues
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
• Track preventive maintenance schedules for the fleet
• Coordinate major repairs with outside repair shops and vendors
• Inspect vehicles for safety concerns and upcoming maintenance needs
• Help reduce vehicle downtime and outsourced repair expenses
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

What This Position Does Not Require

This position is not expected to perform:

• Engine replacements or rebuilds
• Transmission rebuilds
• Major internal engine repairs
• Advanced dealership-level diagnostics
• Heavy diesel repairs
• Major welding or fabrication

Qualifications

• Previous automotive, fleet, or maintenance experience preferred
• General knowledge of vehicle preventive maintenance and repair
• Ability to complete basic mechanical and electrical repairs
• Must have basic hand tools
• Ability to safely operate shop equipment
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• ASE certifications are preferred but not required
