Full job description
Job Description
We are looking for a Medical Advisor to join our General & Specialty Medicine team in Ireland. This is a broad medical affairs role with real variety — combining scientific exchange, stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration to support patients and healthcare professionals across the country.
You will help shape and deliver the local medical affairs plan, working closely with colleagues across medical affairs, access, regulatory, clinical development and commercial teams. The role also involves building strong external relationships with healthcare professionals and scientific leaders, contributing to the scientific credibility of the organisation and ensuring all activities are carried out to a high standard of compliance and governance.
What You Will Do:
Provide fair, balanced and non-promotional medical and scientific support in response to healthcare professional enquiries
Build and maintain credible relationships with Scientific Leaders, healthcare professionals and academic centres
Lead the development and delivery of the Medical Affairs Plan for the allocated therapy area
Work cross-functionally to deliver medical projects and initiatives, including symposia, advisory boards activities and medical education
Partner with market access, regulatory and clinical development colleagues to support patient access to medicines
Contribute to local access and HTA preparation by gathering insights and validating key assumptions
Represent the Medical Department at congresses, symposia and other non-promotional medical events
Support data generation activities, including identification of research opportunities, centres and investigators
Help interpret and disseminate study outputs and translate local evidence into insights that support policy and access discussions
Act as a medical resource for internal teams, including support for Scientific Leader identification and commercial training where appropriate
Work with clinical research colleagues to identify potential investigators for clinical development programmes
Maintain in-depth knowledge of the relevant products, disease area and external environment
Ensure all activities are conducted in line with pharmacovigilance requirements, applicable laws, regulations, codes and company policies
Spend up to 25% of your time in external engagements.
What we are looking for:
Medical degree or pharmacy degree. A higher science degree (i.e. MSc, PhD) is allowable, preferably with industry experience in medical affairs and clear demonstration of achievements.
High level of knowledge of IPHA Code of Practice, preferably with final signatory status.
Proven relationship building skills with scientific leaders (either in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare/academic setting).
Understanding of the wider Irish healthcare and reimbursement environment and key opportunities for pharma and the HSE to partner effectively within the scope of the IPHA Code of Practice.
IT skills, including but not limited to use of MS Office software.
Therapy area knowledge and therapy area industry experience is preferable.
